Ryan Doumit's return from the disabled list lasted only one game. Doumit, who had been out with a wrist injury, suffered a high-ankle sprain Saturday and is expected to miss the remainder of the season, according to the AP. That's some tough luck for Doumit, who ends his season with a .274 batting average and nine homers.

Jim Tracy added that he wants to see more of the switch-hitting Doumit from the right side. Doumit is batting .312 vs. left-handers, .292 vs. right-handers. All six of his home runs have come left-handed.

Manager Jim Tracy said he had no reservations about playing Doumit at catcher; Doumit got the start in right field Wednesday. The Pirates have recalled Ryan Doumit to replace the injured Humberto Cota on the roster, according to the AP. Doumit, who was leading the International League with a .415 average and 20 RBI prior to his promotion, can play catcher, first base and outfield. It's possible he could stick with the team if he performs well at the plate.
