Brandon Webb (shoulder) said recently that his arm has been feeling good of late and that he's aiming for a return in late April, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View:The former ace will be quite the wild card in your fantasy draft. On one hand, we all know he has the potential to be a top-of-the-line hurler, but on the other, he's been unable to stay healthy the past two seasons and will open this year on the DL. Still, it is nice to finally get some sort of timetable.

Brandon Webb is progressing in his recovery from shoulder surgery, as he threw off flat ground Saturday, according to MLB Fanhouse.

Our View:Webb fared better after not feeling good in his previous session. He is able to throw his breaking ball without restrictions, and is expected to advance to a mound at some point next week. This is encouraging, but the former ace hurler is still likely to begin the season on the disabled list.

In news that nobody wanted to hear, Diamondbacks manager A.J. Hinch indicated on Thursday that "there's an increasing chance that Brandon Webb will start the season on the disabled list," according to the Associated Press. Webb "has not thrown a bullpen session for a week after saying he felt 'stagnant' and was not making the progress he expected."

Our View:Webb's fantasy stock has steadily fallen to this spring, to the point where now he can only reasonably be called a late-round flier. He should not go undrafted, but you cannot be building a staff around him.

Brandon Webb (shoulder) may end up starting the season on the disabled list, according to Sports Illustrated.

Our View:He is behind schedule in his rehab, and the Diamondbacks aren't taking any chances. You might want to downgrade him to "later-round flier" on your draft board.

Brandon Webb threw an "average" bullpen session on Thursday, according to the Arizona Republic. "I feel like I'm kind of stagnant right now. I want to feel some progression every time and I feel like the last couple of times I've been out' it's been about the same," he said. "I don't want to overdo it, either," he said. "I don't want to set myself back. That's the thing that's in the back of my mind always. I'm set up right now to be where I need to be. With one little setback it'll probably push me back to where I don't want to be. I'm still a little cautious still but I want to push myself to something I can handle."

Our View:Those comments should be enough to make you temper your expectations for his 2010 season at least a little bit. Stay tuned.

The Diamondbacks released their initial spring rotation schedule on Sunday and Brandon Webb is not in the mix, according to MLB.com.

Our View:This isn't a huge shock as Webb still has some work to do before getting to 100 percent. He is however slated to start the D-Backs third regular season game, which is all owners care about. As for the schedule, Billy Buckner will get Thursday's opener, ace Dan Haren will go on Friday, Edwin Jackson takes Saturday and Kevin Mulvey and Ian Kennedy will piggyback start Sunday's game.

Brandon Webb (shoulder) felt good after a 45-pitch bullpen session on Thursday, according to the Diamondbacks' official site. "I feel like every time I'm getting somewhere," Webb said. "So eventually I'm going to get to where I need to be. Today was by far the best day. It's just going to be a process."

Our View:Thursday marked the first time since his shoulder surgery in August that Webb threw a changeup, and he threw from the stretch for the first time as well. As of now, Webb is scheduled to start Arizona's third game of the season on April 7, and as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he should be ready to go by that date.

Brandon Webb (recovery from shoulder surgery) took "another step in the right direction" on Thursday, according to the Arizona Republic.

Our View:"Today was by far the best day," Webb said after throwing a 45-pitch bullpen session. "It's starting to come out good." He sounds as ever as ever to take on draft day.
February 12, 2010
Brandon Webb threw another bullpen session today, according to MLB writer Steve Gilbert's twitter page.

Our View:Webb will throw again next week prior to the start of spring training. This is encouraging as Webb aims to be ready for opening day. The former ace hurler will be worth targeting as a flier, but be sure not to pay too much, to be safe.
February 9, 2010
Brandon Webb threw off a mound on Tuesday, the first time he's done so since undergoing shoulder surgery in August, according to MLB.com. "[It] went good," Webb said. "[The] ball came out well, but I was just thinking about arm slot on every throw. That's to be expected, not having thrown on the mound in so long."

Our View:The Diamondbacks will surely be cautious with Webb heading into this spring as he continues to rehab. Webb does, however, expect to be ready by the start of the 2010 regular season as long as he continues to progress as he has been, and there's plenty of reason to believe he'll again be an excellent starting pitcher.

Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports that Brandon Webb (recovery from shoulder surgery) will throw off of a mound next Tuesday for the first time since undergoing the procedure last August.

Our View:He is reportedly 100 percent healthy, so unless something unexpected comes up on Tuesday, he will be ready for spring training, and ready for you to take a mid-round flier on in your draft.

Brandon Webb is playing catch regularly at Chase Field as he recovers from August shoulder surgery, according to the Arizona Republic. Skipper A.J. Hinch said, "He looks really good and really comfortable. I saw him throughout his process last year and even when he almost got back on the mound he never looked comfortable."

Our View:The elite hurler had a floating arm slot in 2009, and is now throwing with confidence again. Webb could be a nice value pick if he proves to be healthy in the upcoming campaign. He is entering the last year of his contract with Arizona, and will have added motivation to pitch well too.
January 11, 2010
It seems quite likely that 2010 will be Brandon Webb's last season with the Diamondbacks, according to the Arizona Republic. "Obviously, you want to see what's out there and do the best deal you can for yourself and your family," Webb said. "We've had a great time in Arizona, and if everything works out and we stay here, that would be good. But to get back close to home (in Kentucky) would be just as good. I'm definitely keeping it open. I'm not going to hold myself down to just Arizona."

Our View:With just one season remaining on his contract, Webb could be a candidate to be dealt to a contender at some point this upcoming season if the Diamondbacks struggle early on. Webb will be coming off shoulder surgery but is still just 30 years old and would seemingly have at least a few good years left in him.
