Player Notes
November 26, 2008
The Cardinals will have options at shortstop if they miss out on top free agents Rafael Furcal, Orlando Cabrera, and Edgar Renteria, as they can trade for Khalil Greene, Yunel Escobar, or potentiall Bobby Crosby if Furcal signs with Oakland, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:With that said, the Cardinals still have plenty of time, and options, to upgrade at shortstop.
November 25, 2008
Padres' GM Kevin Towers has indicated that he isn't currently involved in any plan to trade Khalil Greene, according to Sports Illustrated. Towers said, "I don't anticipate anything happening with Khalil anytime soon."

Our View:The Padres recently offered Greene to the Orioles, but they shot down the deal as they didn't want to part with Garrett Olson for the oft-injured shortstop.
November 21, 2008
The Orioles have turned down a trade proposal of Garrett Olson for Khalil Greene (Padres), according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:Greene would fill a void at shortstop for Baltimore, but has had trouble staying healthy, which likely factored into the Orioles' rejection of the deal.
November 7, 2008
The Orioles remain interested in Khalil Greene, but he is not ranked high on their target list of shortstops, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:The Orioles would prefer to get a longtime solution at the position, and Greene is eligible to become a free agent after the 2009 season. He has a poor track record with durability as well.
November 6, 2008
Despite a rumor that is floating out there, Khalil Greene will not be joining the Reds any time soon, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. "We've still got (Alex) Gonzalez," Reds GM Walt Jocketty said. "If he's not healthy, we've got options with (Jeff) Keppinger and (Paul) Janish."

Our View:Greene will look to resurrect his career in '09 after falling to .213 with 10 home runs in 389 AB, due to injury, a season after he blasted 27 home runs and knocked in 97 for the Padres.
