Player Notes
October 3, 2008
The Kansas City Royals fired hitting coach Mike Barnett and third-base coach Luis Silverio, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:The Royals were ninth in the major leagues in batting average with a .269 mark, but were 27th (out of 30) in on-base percentage with a .320 mark.

David DeJesus' hip is still sore and may sit out the remainder of the season, according to the KC Star.

Our View:The team is playing in Minnesota for the final three games, which has an artificial playing surface that could create a further problem for the outfielder.
September 24, 2008
David DeJesus left Wednesday night's game with a hip injury according to MLB.com. DeJesus struck out, limped away from the batter's box and was taken out of the game. Joey Gathright replaced him in the lineup, going to center field, with Mitch Maier switching from center to right field.

Our View:The early exit means that DeJesus' 14-game hitting streak is over. He was 22-for-53, .415., in the streak. He is hitting .308 with 73 RBI and 70 runs this season.
September 22, 2008
David DeJesus went 4-for-4 on Monday night while knocking in two runs and scoring another. Alberto Callaspo also extended his hitting streak to 13-games by going 1-for-3.

Our View:DeJesus is overlooked each year on draft day, and while he doesn't do anything overly well, he is also a fine depth player considering that he is hitting .307 with 12 home runs, 73 RBI and 69 runs scored. Toss in his 11 steals and he is the AL version of Randy Winn.
September 11, 2008
David DeJesus went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Twins. Both of his hits were singles.

Our View:He registered an RBI in each of the last two outings against Minnesota, and is batting .351 (13-for-37) so far in September.
