Kevin Cash hit his second home run of the season helping the Boston Red Sox to a 18-5 Fenway Park win over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday afternoon.

Our View:Cash only received one at-bat on the day because All Star Jason Varitek played battery mate to Josh Beckett. Varitek went 0-for-4 and his now hitting a lowly .220 on the season.

According to the Boston Herald, Kevin Cash’s three-run home run Wednesday night was his first long ball in two years. With Jason Varitek slumping offensively, with just two hits in his past 16 at-bats, Cash's three RBI were a welcomed sight.

Our View:Cash is said to have a power stroke, and it's often on display during batting practice. But don't expect Cash to see more playing time simply because veteran Jason Varitek is slumping. Cash's duties include giving Varitek some relief when needed and catching Time Wakefield every fifth day.
June 25, 2008
Kevin Cash, starting with Tim Wakefield on the hill, crushed a slider from Juan Cruz into the night for his first home run of the year, a 3-run shot in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Our View:Cash isn't much of a second option even in AL Only leagues, but he will continue to pick up starts as long as he continues to handle Wakefield the way he has of late.

Kevin Cash will start at catcher tonight against Baltimore, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Knuckle-baller Tim Wakefield is starting for Boston tonight, and Cash typically catches him. Cash has raised his average to .302 over 53 at-bats this season, but is yet to hit a homer.
May 23, 2008
Kevin Cash got a start on Thursday, and he will be back behind the plate on Friday when Tim Wakefield is on the mound.

Our View:There's nothing wrong with Jason Varitek. Cash typically handles Wakefield and Wednesday was a scheduled day off for Varitek.
May 22, 2008
Kevin Cash is starting at catcher for the Red Sox today, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Varitek had five two-hit games in his last six starts, but Manager Terry Francona felt he needed a day off. Cash is a serviceable catcher, and holds a .341 average over 44 at-bats, with five RBI.
May 6, 2008
Kevin Cash is going to start at catcher tonight against lefty hurler Nate Robertson and the Tigers, according to the Boston Globe. He will bat eighth in the lineup.

Our View:Cash went 10-for-31 (.323) in April, and went 3-for-3 in his last start on April 25 against the Rays. He is hitting favorably, but won't register enough at-bats to merit fantasy consideration while serving as Jason Varitek's backup.
April 24, 2008
Kevin Cash is penciled in to make another start at catcher on Thursday against the Angels, according to The Boston Globe. Jason Varitek is still recovering from the flu.

Our View:Cash is only hitting .231 over 26 at-bats, with nine strikeouts, and his fantasy value remains low. He is not a worthy substitute for Varitek.
April 20, 2008
Kevin Cash will start at catcher on Sunday in place of Jason Varitek, according to the Providence Journal. He will bat eighth in the order.

Our View:Cash is only hitting 2-for-10 with five strikeouts, and his fantasy value remains low.
April 10, 2008
Kevin Cash is expected to start over Jason Varitek at catcher today against the Tigers, according to the Boston Globe. He has one hit over three at-bats this season, and he will bat ninth in the Red Sox order. He will face Tigers' lefty Nate Robertson.
March 13, 2008
With the release of Doug Mirabelli, Kevin Cash is now expected to be the backup behind Jason Varitek and serve as Tim Wakefield's personal catcher. Cash can't hit worth a lick, so he's useless in fantasy leagues.
