The St. Petersburg Times reports that centerfielder B.J. Upton underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder. The surgery was deemed successful and Upton is expected to be "100 percent" sometime during spring training.

Our View:Upton is coming off a stellar postseason, in which he hit seven home runs and had 16 RBI. He had hit just nine homers in the regular season, but reluctantly revealed late in the year that he was playing with the labrum injury. Bossman Junior made some mechanical adjustments and had said he was feeling better during the postseason, but acknowledged he'd likely need surgery to fix the problem. Expect more power from him in 2009.

MLB.com reports that several teams have contacted the Rays regarding B.J. Upton, but it appears unlikely Tampa Bay will move the talented outfielder.

Our View:And why would they? Upton had an exceptional playoff run and played well throughout the regular season. Upton's 44 steals and developing power make him a very valuable fantasy commodity.
October 26, 2008
B.J. Upton stole three bases and was 2-for-4 in Tampa Bay's 5-4 Game 3 loss to the Phillies.

Our View:Upton was the first player to accomplish such a task since Lou Brock pulled it off in 1968. He had 44 steals in the regular season and was caught 16 times.

Game 3 of the World Series is likely to be delayed for an hour or so due to rain, according to the Tampa Tribune.

Our View:There was some fear the game would not be able to be played at all, but indications are the rain will move out before it's too late.
October 23, 2008
B.J. Upton was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored as the Rays beat the Phillies 4-2 in Game 2 of the World Series.

Our View:Bossman Junior continues to see the ball well in the postseason. He has arguably been the Rays best offensive player for Tampa Bay during their improbable run through the playoffs.
