Player Notes
September 1, 2008
Ruben Gotay was activated from the DL on Monday, according to the Miami Herald.

Our View:Gotay had been out of action due to a strained left hamstring, and even though he is now back on the active roster he doesn't figure to have any value, especially with Martin Prado playing so well.

Ruben Gotay has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a strained left hamstring, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Jo-Reyes was recalled from Triple-A Richmond as the corresponding move.

Our View:Gotay held little to no fantasy value with a .225 average over 89 at-bats, with two homers and six RBI.

The Braves have claimed Ruben Gotay off waivers from the Mets on Friday, according to the New York Daily News. He'll serve a reserve role with the Braves, but don't expect much action out of him in fantasy terms.

The New York Daily News reports that Ruben Gotay was not with the team when they made a trip to Orlando, and notes that his Mets career may be over. Gotay was told he’s been placed on waivers. He’ll learn his fate tomorrow. “They told me this morning I’ve been placed on waivers, so I have to wait until tomorrow morning to see what happens,” Gotay said. “By tomorrow at 1 o’clock we’ll see what happens. … I thought I did a good job last year and I didn’t deserve this.” That confirms the final bench spot will go to Fernando Tatis or Brady Clark, with Tatis seemingly ahead. A Mets official had indicated last night that the team probably was going to place Gotay on the DL, but Gotay insisted his sprained right ankle was fine.

Ruben Gotay has reportedly been placed on waivers by the Mets, according to NY Daily News. The team likes his bat a lot but not his defense.
