There have been rumors of the Indians eventually moving Jhonny Peralta to third base due to his lack of range, but general manager Mark Shapiro has already stated that Peralta will be his shortstop next season, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. While a position change could still happen at some point in the future, staying at shortstop will at least make a Peralta a more valuable commodity in fantasy.

Jhonny Peralta is at least in part attributing his success this regular season and in the playoffs to the laser eye surgery he had over the offseason. "I didn't see the breaking ball pitch too well," Peralta said in the AP. "I tried to use contacts, and they helped a lot. But the contacts bothered me when I put them in my eyes." Peralta said he noticed a difference the first time he picked up a bat. "I see everything real clear," he said. Peralta had a down 2006 season but hit eight more homers and upped hit batting average 13 points this year. He's batting .361 with two homers and nine RBI this postseason.

Jhonny Peralta was held out of the lineup Wednesday because of his terrible career numbers against Johan Santana, the AP reports. Peralta is 3-for-28 lifetime against Santana, with 22 strikeouts.

Jhonny Peralta batted third on Tuesday for the second time in the last three games, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Peralta, who hit third during much of his 2005 breakout campaign, has been used mostly in the fifth, sixth and seventh slots this year. He's hitting .282 with 14 homers and 49 RBI on the season.
