Boston Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis finished in third place in AL MVP voting behind winner Dustin Pedroia and Justin Morneau, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Youkilis had a career year in 2008 with career highs in batting average (.312), home runs (29), and RBI (115).

The AP reports that Kevin Youkilis won the Hank Aaron Award on Sunday. The award is given annually to the most outstanding offensive performer in each league.

Our View:Youkilis managed career highs with a .312 batting average, 29 home runs and 115 RBI. He added 43 doubles and hit .374 with runners in scoring position. His .569 slugging percentage ranked third in the AL while his .390 on-base percentage was sixth.

Kevin Youkilis went 1-for-5 with two RBI in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Rays in Game 6 of the ALCS. His hit was good for a solo homer, his second of the series.

Our View:Youkilis kept the Red Sox alive, and will be aiming to lead the club to their second straight World Series in Sunday's Game 7.

Kevin Youkilis went 0-for-4 in Monday's Game 3 loss to the Rays, hence ending his nine-game ALCS hitting streak, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Youkilis is hitting 6-for-14 (.429) in the ALCS, with one homer and two RBI. He will be counted on to carry the Red Sox back into the series, as they currently trail 2-1.
