Josh Barfield underwent surgery to repair an injured ligament on the left middle finger on Tuesday and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks, according to the AP. He will return to Cleveland on Wednesday and begin therapy on his hand Friday.

Our View:Jamey Carroll will handle the bulk of the starts while Barfield is out, though Asdrubal Cabrera could possibly earn a recall with a good stretch of play at Triple-A Buffalo.

Josh Barfield has landed on the 15-day DL, according to the AP. He has been taken down by a left finger sprain. Jorge Velandia has been called up from Triple-A Buffalo to cover his spot on the roster.

Our View:Manager Eric Wedge commented that Asdrubal Cabrera is not likely coming back to cover second base, and did not reveal who would be brought in to replace Barfield.

Cleveland infielder Josh Barfield has been withheld from practice and will also be held out of tonight's lineup as the Indians face the Twins due to a sprained middle finger on his left hand, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Barfield has been unable to swing a bat with the aching digit and could be sent to the 15-day disables list as a result
