Player Notes
October 3, 2009
Delwyn Young provided most of the Pirates offense in an 8-4 loss to the Reds on Saturday. He went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI.

Our View:Young has struggled mightily down the stretch, hitting just .159 in September. Saturday's three RBI were more than he accrued all of last month and the homer was his first since August 18th.
September 14, 2009
Delwyn Young is out of tonight's lineup at the Dodgers while dealing with tightness in his lower back, according to MLBblogs.com.

Our View:He sustained the injury Sunday, and it is uncertain when Young may be fit to return to the diamond.
August 23, 2009
Delwyn Young went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, and recorded the Pirates' lone RBI in Sunday's 4-1 loss to Cincinnati at PNC Park.

Our View:Young is hitting .315 with 13 RBI over 73 at-bats this month, and is worth penciling into fantasy lineups while hot.
June 27, 2009
Delwyn Young was 2-for-4 with four RBI and his second home run of the season against Kansas City on Saturday.

Our View:Young has been very good in limited time since coming to Pittsburgh this season. Given how ineffective Brandon Moss has been this season, you have to believe that Young will start to get more at-bats. He's a guy to keep an eye on if he can win the right field job outright.
June 11, 2009
Delwyn Young's home run in the fifth inning on Thursday was his first of the season and the only run surrendered by Braves starter Javier Vazquez in eight innings.

Our View:Light-hitting Delwyn Young has out performed another more heralded D. Young in 2009, Minnesota's former overall number one pick Delmon Young, hitting .333 in 72 at-bats with one home run and 11 RBIs.
