November 19, 2008 Bobby Jenks is likely to remain in Chicago, according to the Hot Stove Report on MLB.com. Pitching coach Don Cooper said, "It doesn't surprise me the Mets or whatever other teams rumored out there might have interest in him. New York is a team with a lot of money to spend, so I see them having interest in a lot of guys. Bobby is a big part of the White Sox right now. He's a valued member of the bullpen for our team. I certainly could see other teams coveting him. But right now, Bobby is our guy. He still has all the ingredients to stay as one of the game's best closers." Our View:He has saved 111 games over the last three seasons, but has scared some potential suitors away due to a drop in strikeouts over that span. The Sox still view him as one of the steadiest closers in the league, and is likely to be pitching in Chicago in 2009. |

Our View:Jenks wasn't the same type of pitcher this year with a K/9 of 5.55, well below his career average of 8.57, but he was still highly effective posting the best ERA of his career at 2.63. He expressed no qualms about going to the DL and plans to be ready for the second half on July 18. |
