November 12, 2008 Joe Maddon has been named the AL Manager of the Year after leading the Rays to their first postseason and World Series appearance, according to the Our View:Maddon received 27 out of 28 first-place votes from the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, and was an obvious choice to win the honor. Ron Gardenhire of Minnesota received the other first place vote. |

October 27, 2008 Scott Kazmir was awarded a no-decision after the Rays came back to tie the game with the Phillies in the top of the sixth inning before Game 5 was suspended. Our View:Kazmir had the most walks in a World Series appearance in over a decade with six walks in just four innings, but he wiggled his way out of jam after jam allowing just two runs in his four innings of work. He wasn't at his best, but he kept the game within reach for the Rays. |

October 26, 2008 Scott Kazmir the losing pitcher in Game 1 of the World Series, has adjusted his mechanics slightly to better control the Philadelphia Phillies’ running game, acording to Our View:Kazmir took the loss in Game 1 and allowed seven baserunners on base. The Phillies have stolen 12 bases in the postseason and five in the World Series. |

October 22, 2008 Scott Kazmir had a solid outing in the Rays' 3-2 loss to the Phillies in Game 1 of the World Series. The starter went six innings giving up three runs on six hits. Our View:Even though Kazmir took the loss he pitched well enough to keep the Rays in the game. Tampa Bay will need a win in Game 2 so they won't go to Philly down 2-0. |

October 21, 2008 Scott Kazmir has been slated to take the hill in Game 1 of the World Series against the Phillies at Tropicana Field, according to Our View:James Shields will follow in Game 2, and ALCS MVP Matt Garza will pitch Game 3. Andy Sonnanstine will get the call in Game 4. Kazmir will be opposed by Cole Hamels Wednesday night. |
