Josh Bard had his three-game suspension reduced by one game, according to the AP. He received the suspension for a confrontation with an umpire on May 31. Bard's been stuck in a backup role since Michael Barrett joined the Padres, but he'll be unavailable for games on Thursday and Friday.

Josh Bard was suspended three games by Major League Baseball for his "aggressive actions, including making contact with umpire Ed Rapuano," the AP reports. He has appealed. Fantasy owners won't need to potentially bench Bard until his appeal is heard.

The Padres activated Josh Bard from the disabled list on Friday, according to the AP. He had been out since April 12 due to a left groin strain. Bard, who hit .286 with four RBI prior to the injury, will resume his duties as San Diego's starting backstop.

Josh Bard went 1-for-5 in an extended spring training game Wednesday, the AP reports. Bard is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list on Friday; he's returning from a left groin strain. Asked if Bard could be activated then, manager Bud Black said, "By NFL standards, I've got to go 'probable.' "

Josh Bard, who is on the 15-day DL with a left groin strain, caught five innings and had a double and two singles in an extended spring training game on Tuesday, according to the AP. He will be the designated hitter in an extended spring training game Wednesday and catch again on Thursday. Bard said he could be ready to be activated Friday.

Josh Bard was able to test out his strained groin by running the bases and taking part in catching drills yesterday, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. It looks like he will be activated from the disabled list when eligible on April 27.

Padres trainer Todd Hutcheson said Josh Bard, placed on the DL yesterday with a groin injury, would probably come off the DL when eligible on April 27, according to the Union-Tribune. "We thought it would be a week to 10 days," Hutcheson said. "Based on that, we thought it would be best to make sure he doesn't try to rush back. I am confident that he'll be ready to go when his DL time is up."

The Padres placed Josh Bard on the DL Thursday due to a strained left groin, according to MLB.com. Bard is hitting .286 with four RBI so far this year. The team purchased the contract of catcher Pete Laforest from Triple-A Portland to replace Bard on the roster. Rob Bowen should get most of the time behind the plate for the Pads during Bard's absence.

The Padres avoided arbitration with Josh Bard by signing the catcher to a one-year, $1.05 million deal Monday, according to the AP. Bard hit .333 with nine homers and 40 RBI for San Diego last year. With Mike Piazza out of the picture, Bard will handle the everyday duties for the Pads this season.
