Player Notes
October 6, 2008
Josh Bard cleared waivers on Monday and decided to become a free agent, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Bard missed about two months due to an ankle injury and later in the year also missed time due to a strained right triceps. At the plate he was atrocious hitting just .202 in 178 AB, this after hitting .305 in 2006-07. He should rebound somewhat with health, but playing time could be hard to come by.

Josh Bard is likely done for the year after aggravating his right triceps injury, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Bard has been limited to just 57 games this year due to various injuries.
August 22, 2008
Catcher Josh Bard returned to the Padres after the team activated him from the DL, according to The Sports Network. To make room for Bard, Josh Carlin was sent to the minors.

Our View:Bard is hitting .209 and is of no importance in fantasy leagues.
August 22, 2008
Josh Bard is expected to be activated from the DL prior to Friday's game against the Giants, according to Padres.com. He has battled a high ankle sprain and a strained right triceps this season.

Our View:Bard will be a welcome addition back to the Padres, but not to fantasy lineups, as he only batted .209 (with one homer and 12 RBI) over 148 at-bats this season.

The Padres have reportedly rejected an offer from the Marlins involving catcher Josh Bard, according to the North County Times.

Our View:Bard is only hitting .217 with one homer over 138 at-bats, but the club felt the Marlins' proposal to unload him wasn't good enough. The Marlins seek a catcher as insurance and depth for Matt Treanor, who is opting to play through a hip injury rather than undergo surgery.
