Player Notes
May 11, 2008
Josh Bard was held out of Sunday's game after receiving a cortisone injection in his surgically repaired right wrist.

Our View:The team considers their starting catcher day-to-day.
May 1, 2008
Josh Bard went 0-for-3 on Thursday night to drop his average down to .209 for the Padres.

Our View:Bard has failed miserably to take advantage of the playing time he was given with the injury to Michael Barrett. Bard is now 1-for-18 over the last five games, and it doesn't get much worse than that for a career .271 hitter.
April 1, 2008
Josh Bard struggled through spring training, but he was still awarded the opening night start against Houston, and he stepped up as he went 2-for-4 and scored a pair of runs. This was a great effort as he fights Michael Barrett for playing time this season.
March 25, 2008
Josh Bard continues to struggle at the plate this spring as he went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts against the Angels on Monday. He is going to fight Michael Barrett for playing time this season and really needs to end spring training on a high note, as his batting average currently sits at .212.
February 14, 2008
The Padres inked Josh Bard to a one-year, $2.2375 million deal Thursday, avoiding arbitration. Bard is slated to share time behind the plate with Michael Barrett this year.
