The Mets placed Jose Reyes on the disabled list Friday after an MRI revealed a stress fracture of his left fibula. Reyes originally hurt the leg in Philadelphia in the first week in July. "It's been getting worse every day," he said. Reyes played through it until this week. GM Jim Duquette said that the typical recovery time is four to six weeks, but added that the club is not yet planning on Reyes missing the rest of the season.

Chew, who has never examined Reyes, nevertheless believes he could have Reyes healed in four weeks and back on the field in six using nothing other than massage therapy.
