With his 47th stolen base of the season on Wednesday, Mets shortstop Jose Reyes tied Mookie Wilson for the most steals in franchise history, with 281, according to New York Newsday.

Our View:Reyes will go on to obliterate this mark, and it's anyone's guess as to how many he'll end up with. He is one of the top options every year for fantasy owners in the steals department.
August 30, 2008
Jose Reyes went 1-for-4 with a triple in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Florida. He also registered a walk and swiped his 45th base of the season.

Our View:Reyes continues to lead the majors with 17 triples, and he ranks second in steals only to Willy Taveras of Colorado.
August 25, 2008
Jose Reyes was a beast for the Mets on Monday in their 9-1 win over Houston. The young shortstop went 3-for-4 with a single, double, triple, two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base - his 41st of the year.

Our View:Reyes continues to do it all, showing why he was a top pick in fantasy drafts across the country. If he could just raise that OBP a smidgen, he would be nearly perfect.
August 16, 2008
Jose Reyes went 2-for-5 with a triple, homer, and two RBI in Saturday's win over the Pirates. He has multiple hits in six of his last seven games.

Our View:The dynamic talent has really excelled since his rough April. He continues to lag behind our preseason expectations for stolen bases, but his other digits are excellent.
August 12, 2008
Mets shortstop Jose Reyes went 2-for-5 and stole his 40th base of the season in New York's 4-3 win over Washington.

Our View:Reyes has hit over .300 every month since May, and though he has taken only two walks in August, his value to fantasy owners is tremendous.
August 10, 2008
Jose Reyes went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 8-2 loss to Florida. He notched a single and a double, and accounted for two of the Mets' six hits in the game.

Our View:He recorded his 30th double, snapping an eight-game skid without one. He also ended a 12-game drought without an RBI.
July 26, 2008
Jose Reyes went 4-for-8 in the Mets extra inning loss to St. Louis, and among his hits were two doubles and his 12th home run of the season.

Our View:Reyes can still do it all, and he is now hitting an even .300 on the year, and he is obviously one of the top players in all of fantasy baseball.
July 23, 2008
Jose Reyes had only one hit, but it was a 3-run home run on Wednesday night to help the Mets to defeat the Phillies 6-3.

Our View:After a 12 home run season last year, the power that produced 19 homers for Reyes in 2006 has returned. His steals might be down, he has 33, but all of his other numbers are right where you would expect them to be leaving him as a top-10 fantasy performer up until this point of the year.
July 20, 2008
With 14 hits for the team on the day, the Mets had more than enough offense to go around, posting the 7-5 win over the Reds. Give the cigar to shortstop Jose Reyes as the top man of the effort, going 4-for-6 with a triple (his 11th of the season), a stolen base (his 33rd of the season), and three runs scored.

Our View:Reyes is making his rise this month, hitting. .338 through June with five stolen bases, nine walks versus six strikeouts, and 11 runs scored through July. He's already matched his RBI total from last month (9) and hopes to keep rolling as the Mets gain momentum.
July 18, 2008
Jose Reyes went hitless in four at-bats on Friday against the Reds, and he has gone 2-for-16 over his last four games. He does not have a stolen base since July 7.

Our View:It's likely nothing to be concerned about, and Reyes will continue to rack up stolen bases once he starts getting on base with more frequency.
July 17, 2008
The Mets scored 10 runs on Thursday but Reyes accounted for none of them. He was 0-for-5 with two strikouts.

Our View:Don't count on this becoming a trend. Reyes will continue to be one of the best players in fantasy leagues throughout the second half.
July 14, 2008
Jose Reyes is the first player in Major League history to record 10 home runs, 20 doubles, 10 triples, and 30 stolen bases before the All-Star break.

Our View:Reyes got off to an anemic start this season, but is now back on track and playing up to high expectations as a first-round fantasy pick. He also raised his average to .302 and is riding a nine-game hitting streak, with five multi-hit efforts over the span.
July 12, 2008
The Mets have wrapped their eighth consecutive win this evening, defeating the Colorado Rockies 3-0. All eight Met hits were produced by different batters, though leadoff shortstop Jose Reyes made the most of his, hitting his 10th homer of the season to go 1-for-4 with one walk, one RBI, and one run scored on the night.

Our View:Reyes has been surging after a frustrating start, now hitting .302 on the season thanks to improving his .305 June batting average to .375 this month, though he had not homered since June 25th and touts just four stolen bases this month (following 11 through June).
July 6, 2008
Jose Reyes went 3-for-6 with a run and two stolen bases on Sunday.

Our View:It was his first multi-steal game since June 8 and his fifth of the season. He had 13 such games last season. Let's hope he increases his stolen base frequency going forward.
July 4, 2008
Jose Reyes went 0-for-3 with a walk in Friday's 3-2 win over the Phillies. He contributed a stolen base, his 29th of the season.

Our View:That was his first stolen bag since June 27, snapping a seven-game drought.
July 4, 2008
Jose Reyes got into an altercation with Mets broadcaster Keith Hernandez Sunday on the team's flight to St. Louis, according to the New York Post. Reyes was upset at comments Hernandez made that were critical of him. "He got his point [across] and I got mine," said Reyes

Our View:Reyes continues to act like a spoiled child, and you have to wonder if his immaturity is costing him on the field, and costing your fantasy team points.
June 25, 2008
Jose Reyes stole his 27th base of the season, hit his ninth home run, scored twice and had three RBI for the Mets.

Our View:Talk about a huge night in points leagues. Reyes continues to push his numbers after a slow start as he is once again proving why a selection in the top-10 of a fantasy draft is always a wise investment with this guy.
June 18, 2008
Jose Reyes said after Tuesday's game that he expected to play tonight against the Angels, and true to his expectations, the Mets starting shortstop is in the starting lineup and hitting in his usual leadoff spot.

Our View:Reyes was upset after being taken out of the Tuesday's game in the first inning after tweaking a hamstring, and while he is starting, don't expect to see the speedster stealing second and third without feeling some hambone pain.
June 18, 2008
Jose Reyes may be able to return to the lineup on Wednesday after dealing with some left hamstring tightness on Tuesday. Manager Jerry Manuel informs the New York Daily News that the shortstop is typically able to "shake it out" and come back quickly. The new skipper also chastised Reyes for the tantrum he threw when he was removed from the game on Tuesday.

Our View:Manuel made the right move on Tuesday, and it's too bad Reyes felt the need to challenge the new manager. We imagine Manuel later gave Jose a big bowl of ice cream and let him stay up watching TV all the way until 10:00 pm.
June 17, 2008
Jose Reyes was forced to leave the Mets game on Tuesday night in the first inning due to an apparent left leg injury, according to the Associated Press. Damion Easley pinch ran and stayed in the game to play shortstop.

Our View:Reyes appeared to tweak his left hamstring, and was visibly upset when he was removed from the game by interim manager Jerry Manuel. We will update you when more details become available.
June 17, 2008
After weeks of speculation, Willie Randolph has been fired by the Mets following Monday's 9-6 win over the Angels, according to the AP.

Our View:Bench coach Jerry Manuel takes over on an interim basis for Randolph, who led the Mets to within one win of the 2006 World Series. The Mets' collapse at the end of last season hurt Randolph's rep with team management, and they decided it was time to move on. The Mets were also a preseason favorite to claim the NL pennant, but are a disappointing 34-35.
June 17, 2008
Jose Reyes used his legs tonight to score three runs and steal his 25th base, while he used his bat to punch out two doubles for the Mets.

Our View:Reyes has pushed the average up to .289 and he has scored eight runs in his last eight games as the Mets offense is slowly starting to do some things.
June 13, 2008
Willie Randolph is believed to be on his way out as the manager of the Mets, as was said by columnist Jon Heyman on WFAN's "Mike and the Mad Dog" radio show (and displayed on the NY Post). Heyman said, "Willie's on very thin ice, I don't think there's any other way to put it. I've heard he's going to survive today. I'm not sure why that is, why not fired today, it could just be logisitcal something or other, but the higher-ups met yesterday."

Our View:The Mets are a disappointing 31-34 and are not playing up to high expectations as preseason contenders.
June 6, 2008
Jose Reyes continued to provide a spark from the top of the lineup for the Mets as he had two hits, two steals, and a run scored against the Padres.

Our View:Reyes has at least two hits in six of his last 11 games during which time he has stolen six bases. If there was any doubt about Reyes, it has certainly passed.
June 4, 2008
Jose Reyes hit a leadoff double, a home run and finally a single helping the the New York Mets beat the San Francisco Giants 5-3 on Wednesday. Reyes also scored twice.

Our View:Reyes is melting anything in his way, especially poorly placed fastballs. The Mets shortstop also stole his 19th base of the season.
June 1, 2008
Jose Reyes has reached base safely in 32 straight games, one shy of Darryl Strawberry's single-season club record. Reyes singled in the first inning, stole second, and then scored a looping single by David Wright.

Our View:Jose Reyes extended his hitting streak to 17 games, and finally played a complete game. He was outstanding defensively and continues to look confident at the plate. If Reyes can find June as successful as May, he will overtake Hanley Ramirez as the top shortstop in the fantasy realm.
June 1, 2008
Jose Reyes was a quiet 1-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base on Saturday, but he extended his hitting streak to 16 games.

Our View:Reyes ended up hitting .310 with five homers, 15 RBI, 20 runs, and 11 steals over 28 games in May. He hasn't quite exploded yet, but he's looking more like the stud fantasy owners expected when they used a top-three pick on him.
May 29, 2008
Jose Reyes continued his recent spell of hot hitting with another two hits for the Mets on Thursday to extend his hitting streak to 14-games.

Our View:Reyes has raised his average from .258 to .282 with the streak, though he does have seven games with just one hit. With David Wright also heating up, the Mets offense could be ready to make some noise.
May 28, 2008
It wasn't pretty, but the Mets and Marlins fought into extra innings as the hometown Mets scored two runs to answer the one posted by Florida in the 12th to emerge victorious, 7-6. For the Mets, it was a group effort, though leadoff shortstop Jose Reyes may have been the best performer of the game. Reyes went 2-for-5 with a walk at the plate with a double (his 12th of the season), a home run (his seventh), and a stolen base (16th of the season), all told to push one RBI and two runs scored.

Our View:Reyes had suffered through an awful slump early, hitting just .240 through March and April. In May, he's hitting .303 and has three homer and three RBIs over his last three games.
May 27, 2008
Jose Reyes hit two homers last night but the Mets still lost to the Marlins 7-3, and Reyes commented on the tough defeat following the game, according to MetsBlog.com. Reyes said, "It’s nice to have two home runs in the game, but we need a win and we didn’t get it. But, there’s a lot of baseball left. This team just has to keep fighting. We are a very good team. We’re gonna turn it around. We believe in this talent, and we’re gonna be fine."

Our View:Reyes has reached base in 26 straight games, but the Mets are only 11–15 over the span.
May 26, 2008
Jose Reyes homered twice on Monday night but it wasn't enough as the Mets fizzled on offense otherwise in a 7-3 loss to the Florida Marlins.

Our View:The two home runs gives Reyes six long balls on the season. The Mets shortstop is having a stellar May at the plate, but his defense has taken a back seat as he committed another critical error in the Monday loss.
May 22, 2008
Jose Reyes has reached base safely in 21 straight games dating back to April 27, according to MLB.com. He will look to keep the streak going tonight against hurler Tim Hudson and the Braves.

Our View:Reyes is hitting .315 over 18 games in May, with 11 runs scored, two homers, nine RBI, and eight stolen bases.
May 20, 2008
The Mets struggled to get the offense going this evening as they suffered a loss in the second game of a double-header against Atlanta, falling 6-2. However, New York shortstop Jose Reyes is starting to show a small glimmer of life in what has been a disappointing campaign thus far. Reyes went 2-for-4 with an RBI, raising his batting average to .272.

Our View:Unfortunately, Reyes was caught stealing for the fifth time this season, but he has gone 8-for-22 over his last four, including two home runs and five RBIs.
May 18, 2008
Jose Reyes is slowly starting to recapture his previous level of performance as he went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored on Sunday.

Our View:Reyes is still hitting just .267 and getting on base roughly a third of the time, a number that simply must increase to previous levels if Reyes is to ignite the Mets order, and it would be nice to see him run a bit more too since he has only two SB in his last 12 games.
May 11, 2008
Jose Reyes halted a mini-skid by going 3-for-5 with a double, two runs, and two steals against the Reds on Sunday. He came into the game 3-for-25 over the past even contests.

Our View:Reyes has had only one hot stretch this season, and even that time was just for one week. He is going to catch fire at some point.
May 10, 2008
The Mets couldn't get their bats going in the second game of their double-header with the Reds today, falling 7-1 to the Cincinnati Reds. In a continued line of concern, SS Jose Reyes just can't seem to get going, hitting 1-for-4 today with his seventh double of the season. The outing is tainted with two strike outs.

Our View:Through the month of May, Reyes has totaled seven hits (no home runs), three RBIs, six walks and six strike outs.
May 7, 2008
Mets SS Jose Reyes continues to struggle at the plate, going 1-for-5 with no walks and one strike out on the evening.

Our View:Reyes posted his 13th RBI of the season, but in his last 14 games, Reyes has posted just two multi-hit games with four combined RBIs and no home runs.
May 4, 2008
Jose Reyes continues to stretch his legs. He went 1-for-3 with two RBI, a walk, and a stolen base on Sunday. Reyes has swiped a bag in three straight games and six bases over the last 10 contests.

Our View:It's never surprising to see Jose go on a tear like this. Fantasy owners should be pleased with the way he is coming on after a relatively quiet start.
May 3, 2008
Jose Reyes went 0-for-3 with one walk, and stole his eighth base of the season in Saturday's 10-4 loss to Arizona.

Our View:Reyes got off to a very slow start this season, but has now stolen a base in four of his last six games. He has scored five runs over that span as well.
April 19, 2008
Jose Reyes had two hits, two runs, two RBI and a SB on Saturday for the Mets. One of the two hits was a double, the other his second home run.

Our View:So much for Reyes struggling. He looked great today and seemed to have some of the old spring back in his step. He's good to go in all weekly leagues.
April 19, 2008
Mets SS Jose Reyes got knocked around a bit in New York's 6-4 win over the Phillies on Friday.

Our View:Reyes hit his head on the knee of Philadelphia 2B Chase Utley during a head-first slide, attempting to steal second. Reyes was attended to by the trainers and remained in the game, and at this point, we have no reason to believe there is reason for concern.
April 18, 2008
Jose Reyes took a shot to the head from the knee of Phillies shortstop Eric Bruntlett in the third inning on Friday night during a SB attempt, but he was able to remain in the game after a long pause, this according to the NY Post.

Our View:Reyes was able to stay in and he eventually scored later in the inning. Stay tuned for further updates.
April 17, 2008
Jose Reyes recorded his third straight multi-hit game during Thursday's 14 inning win over the Nationals. The Mets shortstop was 2-for-6 with a run scored.

Our View:Reyes still has only one stolen base in three attempts.
April 15, 2008
Mets SS Jose Reyes is working into top form once again, swinging a hot bat in New York's 0-6 win over the Washington Nationals this evening. Reyes went 4-for-5 at the plate with his third double, his first triple, and one run scored and one strike out.

Our View:The young gem of the Mets organization has started a bit slow, but this game shows he's headed in the right direction.
April 15, 2008
Contrary to an earlier report by the NY Post, Mets' manager Willie Randolph announced that Jose Reyes will play tonight, this according to Newsday.com.

Our View:According to the report, Randolph will drop Luis Castillo to the eighth slot in the lineup and move Ryan Church behind leadoff hitter Reyes. Don't expect Reyes to come flying out of the blocks. Owners who believed the speedster would steal 70 bases this year might have to temper their expectations. The Mets shortstop currently has but one stolen base.
April 15, 2008
Jose Reyes is expected to sit tonight against Washington, according to the NY Post. He will miss his third straight game due to his hamstring ailment, and GM Omar Minaya noted that Reyes tested his hamstring on the field this morning, and added that the team wants to give him one more day of rest before putting him back in the lineup.

Our View:Damion Easley will continue to man shortstop until he is ready to return.
April 14, 2008
Jose Reyes will be re-evaluated today, according to the NY Post. He is suffering from a hamstring strain, but noted that the ailment is feeling a little bit better. He remains unsure about rejoining the lineup tomorrow for a three-game home series with the Nationals, however.

Our View:Damion Easley will man shortstop until Reyes is ready to return.
April 12, 2008
Jose Reyes hopes that he will be able to return from his hamstring strain on Tuesday, this according to the NY Daily News.

Our View:Reyes sat out on Saturday, and plans to do so again on Sunday before the Mets off-day on Monday. We aren't overly panicked if he returns by that date, but if he doesn't, consider us extremely nervous.
April 12, 2008
Jose Reyes will miss at least two games with a sore left hamstring, according to the AP. Manager Randolph commented, "We’ll let the injury calm down for a day or two."

Our View:Damion Easley will fill in at shortstop until he can return.
April 12, 2008
Jose Reyes will not play on Saturday, due to his hamstring ailment that he sustained last night, according to NewYorkMetsNews.com. The severity of the ailment is yet to be determined.

Our View:This is a shame, as Reyes finally broke out of his slump and registered a stolen base.
April 11, 2008
Jose Reyes was forced from the Mets game on Friday after five innings because of a sore left hamstring, this according to the AP. Something has obviously been bothering Reyes as he has only attempted two steals in nine games this season, and given that he is hitting .195 through 41 AB perhaps a day or two off may be beneficial.
April 10, 2008
Jose Reyes has not stolen a base in 21 straight games, dating back to last season, according to MLB.com. He is only hitting .200 over 30 at bats at well, with only one double and no triples, and he stated, "It's not where I want to be, but I feel better." Hopefully he can get on track and regain his spark soon.
March 31, 2008
Jose Reyes was 2-for-4 in Monday's win over the Fish. The Mets shortstop added a run, an RBI and was caught stealing in his first attempt of the season. Reyes has swiped 60, 64 and 78 bases the last three years, and was off and running in the opening day win.
February 16, 2008
Jose Reyes has swiped 60, 64 and 78 bases the last three years. Could he steal even more this season? "Probably I'm going to be a little faster this year," he tells the New York Daily News. Reyes did more long distance running this offseason in order to increase his endurance.
