Unless "there's a miracle," both Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran will begin 2010 on the disabled list, according to Baseball Prospectus' Will Carroll.

Our View:Simply stunning. Well, actually it's not stunning when you consider how the Mets' 2009 campaign went, but you would still think they would be about ready to come into some luck. Not the case, apparently. Consider both huge fantasy injury risks, with Beltran being the riskier of the two.

Adding to a previous Newsday report, the New York Daily News says that Jose Reyes will open the 2010 season on the disabled list. Reyes will remain in New York over the next few weeks and have his thyroid levels tested regularly. He won't be able to exercise normally until his levels return to normal, and the timetable is two-to-eight weeks for that portion.

Our View:It sounds like the competing outlets are working with the same report, but the Daily News seems to have a more dire outlook. The Mets open the season with Alex Cora at shortstop and a lineup without Reyes and Carlos Beltran. We're sure to receive many more updates on Reyes as he continues to undergo testing in the coming weeks. His draft stock will obviously drop and that huge timeframe (2-8 weeks) adds a ton of risk to Reyes' value.

Jose Reyes' (overactive thyroid) chances of being ready for opening day are in "serious jeopardy," according to Newsday's David Lennon. Mets general manager Omar Minaya said on Thursday it will take 2-to-8 weeks for his "levels" to go down.

Our View:So the Mets may have caught a long-term break with Reyes' health, but not a short-term one. Be sure to consider this when drafting him this spring, and check for updates on his status daily.

Jose Reyes and his agent believe a Mets press release from Wednesday made the shortstop's thyroid imbalance "look worse than it was," according to the New York Post.

Our View:The Mets' continued inability to be on the same page as its players when it comes to injuries is astonishing. That being said, while embarrassing, this latest incident is of little consequence. Reyes is still a safe pick in all formats.

Jose Reyes will not need treatment to tend to his overactive thyroid, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:This serves as further proof that Reyes' much talked about thyroid will not present him with any problems as far as his on-the-field performance goes. At most, he may have to change his diet, but he's still on track so be in the Mets' Opening Day lineup.
