Player Notes
July 30, 2008
Omar Infante led the Braves with three hits on Wednesday while Greg Norton, Kelly Johnson and Jeff Francoeur each had two hits.

Our View:Infante continues to receive playing time with Chipper Jones on the DL, and he has actually acquitted himself quite well with two or more hits in four of his last six games.
July 27, 2008
Omar Infante started in place of the injured Chipper jones (hamstring). He was 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.

Our View:Jones thinks he may need to go onto the 15-day disabled list so Infante could be looking at consistent playing time for a few weeks. He hits for average, draws walks and knows how to get extra base hits. He has muliple position eligibility and may be worth a gamble if Jones does indeed land on the DL.

MLB.com reports that Omar Infante was activated after testing his strained right hamstring during batting practice preceding Tuesday night's game against the Marlins. To make room for him on the 25-man roster, the Braves optioned Brent Lillibridge to Triple-A Richmond.

Our View:Infante will be used as a utility man in the infield and outfield. He has three triples in 110 at-bats, but don't count on him as a source of fantasy production.

Omar Infante strained his hamstring on a double on Sunday.

Our View:No word yet if Infante will land on the DL, but the way the Braves season has gone, you can expect him to.
June 25, 2008
Updating an earlier report, Omar Infante suffered a strained left hamstring on Wednesday and is being listed as day-to-day, according to the Associated Press. “I don’t think it’s going to be that bad,” manager Bobby Cox said. “He wanted to stay in and when I asked him to bend down and stretch it a little bit, (his hamstring) grabbed him pretty good.”

Our View:The Braves are off on Thursday and the hope is that Infante will be able to go on Friday. If not, the mighty Brent Lillibridge will likely be pushed into action.

Omar Infante was injured during Wednesday afternoon's game against the Brewers. Infante appeared to sustain a leg injury after sliding into second base after hitting a double off Jeff Suppan.

Our View: Brent Lillibridge ran for Infante. More information forthcoming when details are available.
May 11, 2008
Omar Infante will start at second and batting leadoff again on Sunday. It will be his third start in four games, and all three outings came against left-handed pitchers.

Our View:Infante is 4-for-7 thus far, and Kelly Johnson has been toiling. So, it's not surprising to see Omar back in the lineup. We're not ready to call this a platoon, but it could be heading that way.
May 10, 2008
Atlanta 2B Omar Infante did his job as the Braves' leadoff man in the 5-2 loss to the Pirates. Infante went 3-for-4 at the dish, hitting his first double of the season.

Our View:This is only his second start of the season, going 1-for-3 two days ago against the Padres. Let's see if he can keep it going and continue to earn opportunities.
May 8, 2008
Omar Infante had been activated from the DL, according to the Miami Herald. Backup catcher Brayan Pena has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a mid-back strain. Infante has recovered from a broken left hand.

Our View:The utility infielder hit .271 over 166 at-bats in 2007, with 17 RBI. He will provide quality depth during his stint with the team, but holds little to no fantasy value.

Omar Infante is looking forward to playing in the National League this season, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I like it because I think I get more of an opportunity to play every day," Infante said. "In the American League, you don't have a lot of chances. It's the same lineup every day." The catch is that he won't be ready to play in any games until at least the end of April due to a broken hand sustained in winter ball.
January 18, 2008
The Braves inked Omar Infante to a one-year, $1.4 million deal Thursday, the same day they found out the utilityman has a broken hand that could require surgery and keep him out of spring training until at least mid-March. Infante, who was hit by a pitch in a Venezuelan winter-league game, will fly to Atlanta today to have his hand examined to determine if he needs a pin inserted, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He could start the season on the disabled list, but if he does the Braves expect him back in April. Brent Lillibridge and Martin Prado would be more likely to make the opening day roster should Infante begin the year on the DL.
