Player Notes
November 13, 2008
David Wright won his second straight Silver Slugger award on Thursday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Wright is one of the favorites for the NL MVP, with his second straight year of a .300+ average, 30+ home runs, and 100+ RBI.
October 2, 2008
Mets manager Jerry Manuel has been offered a two-year contract to return to the team, but negotiations are still ongoing, according to New York Newsday.

Our View:Manuel led the team out of the Willie Randolph ear smoothly, but he still failed to lead the team to the playoffs, losing on the final day of the season, which let Milwaukee claim the final playoff spot.
September 23, 2008
Mets third baseman David Wright went 2-for-4 with two RBI to help lead the Mets to a 6-2 victory over the Cubs.

Our View:Wright is making a case for MVP, as the runs he knocked in were numbers 121 and 122. Fantasy owners have been singing his praises all season, as he does a little bit of everything.
September 22, 2008
David Wright used his 33rd home run of the year to produce two RBI leading to the 120th RBI of the season for Wright.

Our View:While some of his teammates are shrinking once again, Wright has done what the great ones do, and that is he has elevated his game with the season on the line. In 19 September tilts, Wright is hitting .325 with six home runs, 17 RBI and 17 runs scored.
September 14, 2008
David Wright went 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs on Sunday, giving him three homers in two days.

Our View:Wright now has four homers in the past week and a five-game hitting streak. Perhaps we shouldn't give up on Wright as the NL MVP just yet.
