Player Notes
July 1, 2008
The Mets found the offense needed to post the 7-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals this evening, an effort led by the illustious third baseman David Wright . Wright went 3-for-4 with a walk, his 20th double and his 16th home run of the season to total one RBI and two runs scored.

Our View:Wright is now hitting .288 on the season, and while his power numbers fell in June (just four homers compared to seven in May), his run production is up (24 RBIs in June versus 17 in May).
June 27, 2008
David Wright went 4-for-5 with three RBI in the Mets 15-6 victory over the Yankees. He is 6-for-8 in his last two games.

Our View:Wright is certainly capable of stretches of dominance. He hasn't had a great June, but if his last two games are any indication, he could end the month well and start to take off in July.
June 25, 2008
David Wright hit home runs in each of his first two AB a night after being benched for the first time this season as the Mets defeated the Mariners 8-2.

Our View:Wright really could use a big night like this after entering the game with a sickly .241 average and just a single home run in 21 June appearances. You can only keep a good man down for so long you know.
June 24, 2008
David Wright is expected to be held out of the Mets' lineup for the first time in 2008 tonight, according to the NY Post. Wright said, "Jerry knows the game. I'll get a blow and hopefully come back refreshed."

Our View:The move comes a night after Wright made a costly second-inning error that loaded the bases for Felix Hernandez, who shockingly hit a grand slam off of Johan Santana. Wright also went 0-for-3 last night, and is only hitting .241 (20-for-83) in June. He should benefit from a night off. Fernando Tatis is likely to roam third base in his place.
June 15, 2008
David Wright went 3-for-4 and picked up his 50th RBI of the season in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Rangers in the late game of a double-header.

Our View:Wright has notched an RBI in three straight games, and has 10 so far in June, but was only hitting .220 in the month prior to tonight's strong outing.
