Garrett Atkins enjoyed a solid night at the plate in Friday's 4-2 win at Oakland, as he went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI. He hit a double and two singles.

Our View:Atkins has three hits and two RBI in each of his last two games. He is hitting .340 this month after holding an anemic .148 batting average in May.

Garrett Atkins was productive in tonight's 11-3 loss at the Angels, as he went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

Our View:Atkins ended a 10-game drought without a homer, and only had four RBI over 14 games in June heading into tonight's contest.

According to the Denver Post, the Rockies plan to give Garrett Atkins plenty of playing time on their road trip to showcase him to other teams who may be interested in a trade. Atkins has been replaced as the starting third baseman by Ian Stewart, but the team plans to DH him for a majority of the trip.

Our View:The Rockies are praying that Atkins can muster some offense during this trip, because if he struggles there is virtually no chance they will be able to move him. He is set to make $7 million this year, and no team will take on that kind of money for a guy hitting .207 unless he really wows them during these next two series.

According to the Denver Post, Garrett Atkins improved production at the plate lately can be attributed to new contact lenses.

Our View:Atkins is having a miserable season, but his new adjusted peepers may remedy that. He has been the subject of trade talks (the Cardinals have been most mentioned), but teams will likely wait on him to see if his bat has legitimately woken up.

Garrett Atkins went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI in Thursday's 10-3 win at Houston.

Our View:Atkins only had three homers heading into tonight's game, and was in grave need of a solid outing. He ended a 33-game drought without a homer, and only hit .148 in the month of May.
