Joe Thurston has been designated for assignment, according to the Boston Globe. The team needed a roster spot for David Pauley, who will make a spot start in place of Josh Beckett tonight. Beckett was pulled from his start due to neck stiffness.

Our View:Thurston was recently called up to replace the injured Alex Cora on the roster. He was hitless over eight brief a-bats, and held no fantasy value.

Joe Thurston has been called up from Triple-A Pawtuckett, according to the Boston Globe. He will fill the roster spot vacated by Alex Cora, who has been placed on the 15-day DL due to his sore elbow.

Our View:Thurston won't likely see much action during his time with the Red Sox.

The Phillies purchased the contract second baseman Joe Thurston on Tuesday, according to the AP. Thurston was hitting .282 with nine HR, 55 RBI, and 20 steals for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at the time of his promotion.

The Dodgers recalled second baseman Joe Thurston from Triple-A Las Vegas. Thurston hit .284 with four homers and seven steals in 101 games. He isn't likely to play much down the stretch.
