Endy Chavez went 2-for-3 and led the Mets with two RBI in a losing effort against the Cardinals. This was a great day for him as he has been battling ankle and hamstring ailments that he suffered in winter ball.

Endy Chavez said he isn't sure when he'll play in a spring training game, according to the AP. The outfielder is still recovering from right hamstring and right ankle injuries that he suffered in winter ball.

Endy Chavez injured his right hamstring and right ankle while playing winter ball in Venezuela last month. The ailments are not expected to keep Chavez from being ready for spring training, according to the AP. Chavez missed 71 games last year with an injury to his left hamstring.

Endy Chavez flew back to Venezuela Saturday evening to be with his family following the death of his sister, according to the New York Daily News. Obviously, he will miss the final two regular-season games this weekend.

Endy Chavez came off the disabled list, as expected, and batted eighth at Philadelphia Tuesday. Brian Lawrence was sent to Triple-A to make room for Chavez.
