Player Notes
May 14, 2008
Washington needed a strong outing off the mound from RHP Tim Redding with the offense struggling, and the hurler came through, pitching six innings to allow just one run on a lowly two hits, walking two and striking out four.

Our View:Redding has shown flashes of greatness this season and tonight gives more indication of a bright future.

The Marlins were ready for Nats starter Tim Redding on Friday night. They were patient at the plate, this after striking out 10 times to the right-hander in their last game against him. Redding walked a season-high four over 5.1 innings. He gave up only four hits and struck out three but was charged with five earned runs.

Our View:Redding has been the Nationals most consistent starter and his nasty curve ball will allow him to win plenty of game throughout the summer, if he can get some run support.
May 4, 2008
Tim Redding improved to 4-2 by working 6.1 strong innings against the Pirates on Sunday. He held the Bucs to six hits and one run, walked none, and struck out five.

Our View:Redding stats look great through seven starts, and his ERA over his last 22 outings is 3.50. Mixed league fantasy owners may need to start taking this right-hander serious.
April 23, 2008
Tim Redding was saddled with his second loss of the season after allowing four hits, three walks and three runs in five innings to the Mets.

Our View:Redding continues to be a solid option in shallow mixed leagues, but we still would hold off on counting on him to emerge as a big-time performer given his relative lack of control in the early going (4.00 BB/9).
April 23, 2008
Tim Redding will be aiming for his fourth win of the season, when he challenges the Mets tonight, according to MLB.com. He is 3-1 with a 3.68 ERA over 22 innings, with 17 strikeouts and a 1.18 WHIP. He also accounted for three of the Nationals' five wins this season.

Our View:He will duel with lefty ace Johan Santana, who will clearly have the edge, but Redding could still have a quality start. His fantasy stock remains on the rise, and he is worth targeting for your rotation.
