Player Notes
February 2, 2010
A year after recording 11 saves for the Blue Jays, Jason Frasor will have to compete in spring training with Scott Downs for Toronto's stopper role, according to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian.

Our View:Downs had nine saves last season. Both struck out nearly a batter an inning, as well, and this should be a very interesting race to watch unfold this spring.

The Blue Jays and Jason Frasor have avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $2.65 million deal, according to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian.

Our View:Frasor was excellent with a 2.50 ERA and 1.02 WHIP over 57.2 innings last season and is the preliminary favorite to open 2010 as the team's closer, though he'll surely face competition for the gig in spring training.

ESPNChicago.com reports that the Cubs have had discussions with the Blue Jays regarding available relievers, including Jason Frasor.

Our View:Frasor picked up 11 saves and compiled a 2.50 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 57.2 innings last season. He would certainly be a big addition for the Cubs, but the Blue Jays would require one or two future pieces for him.
September 26, 2009
Jason Frasor improved to 7-3 on Saturday after throwing two scoreless innings with four strikeouts in Toronto's extra-inning win over Seattle.

Our View:Frasor continues to add to his impressive season and should be very much in the mix for Toronto's closing gig heading into next season.
August 2, 2009
With closer Scott Downs (toe) landing on the DL, Jason Frasor should get most on Toronto's save chances, according to CBS Sports.

Our View:Frasor wasn't great in his previous shot at closer this season, but he did convert the save yesterday, and with a 2.09 ERA and sub-1.00 WHIP, you have to like his prospects. It doesn't look like Downs will be back anytime soon, so pick Frasor up now.
