Player Notes
March 17, 2010
Brandon Phillips went 1-for-2 with a pair of RBI in Wednesday's 8-2 loss to the Indians.

Our View:Phillips has struggled this spring, hitting just .136 to this point, but his job as the Reds' everyday starting second baseman is safe. He should be a nice source of power and steals at a thin position.
November 10, 2009
According to AOL Fanhouse, the Reds are in financial trouble and may have to unload some significant salary this offseason, meaning Brandon Phillips' future with the team could be in jeopardy.

Our View:The Reds were right around $71 million last season, but apparently need to get it down to about $65 million in 2010. They have a lot of young up and coming talent, and certainly won't be parting with any of that, so guys like Phillips, Bronson arroyo and Aaron Harang could be on the trading block this hot stove season.
October 4, 2009
Brandon Phillips went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored, and three RBI in the Reds' 6-0 win over the Pirates on Sunday.

Our View:Phillips ended up coming just short of 100 RBI for the season, as he will finish at 98. He ended up having a very nice season, with 20 homers and 25 stolen bases.
September 14, 2009
Brandon Phillips went 1-for-4 with a solo homer off Jeff Fulchino in tonight's 3-1 win over Houston at the Great American Ballpark.

Our View:Phillips collected his 20th homer and team-leading 88th RBI of 2009. He has a hit in five straight games, and snapped a 10-game skid without a homer.
September 10, 2009
Brandon Phillips went 3-for-4 and drove in the only run in the Reds' 5-1 loss to the Rockies on Thursday.

Our View:Phillips now has five multi-hit games this month. While his average is up to .275, the kicker is only four of his 13 September hits have gone for extra bases.
