Player Notes
July 29, 2008
Braves farmhand Scott Thorman was placed on the inactive list as he will go to Shanghai to play for Canada in the Olympics, according to the AP.

Our View:Thorman has not played in the majors this year after appearing in 120 contests last season.
June 5, 2008
Scott Thorman hit a pair of home runs for Triple-A Richmond on Wednesday, giving him nine for the season.

Our View:Remember him? Atlanta’s former starting first baseman has not yet appeared in the majors this season, and his .287 OBP shows that he is not particularly deserving of making it back for the time being.
March 28, 2008
The Braves sent Scott Thorman outright to Triple-A Richmond Friday. The former first-round pick was the team's opening day starter at first last year, but he hit just .216 with 11 homers and 36 RBI in 120 games. It's pretty safe to call the 26-year-old Thorman a bust at this point.
March 14, 2008
With rumors abound that the Braves are actively shopping 1B Scott Thorman , the recent performances may suggest a need for re-evaluation. Early spring struggles appear to be subsided as the upswing first bagger is finding his groove at the plate. In today’s 9-1 trouncing of the Philadelphia Phillies, Thorman went 1-for-3 with a home run, earning three RBIs. That’s seven RBIs in Thorman’s last two games. It may be the Braves should consider retaining the man they are shopping rather than hoping unproven options (namely Mark Kotsay, Brayan Pena, and Matt Diaz) rise to the occasion.
March 9, 2008
Scott Thorman has been struggling at the plate but erupted for four RBI on Sunday, while also collecting his first home run of the spring. The Braves are reportedly trying to deal Thorman, and a performance like this will improve his worth and help him land elsewhere.
