Phil Dumatrait won't be ready to pitch when he comes off the 60-day DL June 4, but should return to the mound soon, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:Dumatrait is still worth stashing in deeper NL-only leagues as he could work his way into the Pirates' rotation after he returns.

Phil Dumatrait could resume throwing soon after being shutdown due to shoulder soreness, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:Dumatrait will need two lengthy pitching sessions before progressing to a minor league rehab assignment. He could get a chance to start in the Pirates' rotation upon his return, and is worth holding in deeper NL-only leagues.

Phil Dumatrait is dealing with shoulder soreness and has been pushed back from his next scheduled start in extended spring training, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Dumatrait will be re-evaluated today and manager John Russell said, "We are very pleased with the progress that he made. Tremendous progress. He has been pushing it pretty hard. Some pitchers get to the dead-arm stage in spring training, this could be one of those issues for him. He is going to have some minor setbacks, and I think this is just one of them. It is nothing major." He has been rehabbing from August shoulder surgery.

Our View:It was previously believed that he may be able to return to Pittsburgh in early to mid-May before suffering the setback. When he does return, he should be given a chance to start in the rotation, and is worth stashing in deeper NL-only leagues.

Phil Dumatrait threw a five inning game Saturday at extended spring training, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He has another 90 pitch session scheduled for Wednesday. Dumatrait has been on the DL while rehabbing from left shoulder surgery.

Our View:The Pirates hope to have Dumatrait back in early May, which was the plan for his rehab all along. If things keep progressing nicely, Dumatrait should get an opportunity to start some games for the Pirates.

Phil Dumatrait has been placed on the 15-day DL by the Pirates, according to BucsDugout.com. He is rehabbing from left shoulder surgery, and the move is retroactive to March 27.

Our View:He is 4-6 weeks away from pitching. If healthy, Dumatrait could serve in the rotation, potentially pushing out Jeff Karstens.
