Billy Traber has been designated for assignment by the Red Sox, according to WEEI.com. Traber pitched 3.2 innings with the Sox this season and compiled a 12.27 ERA.

Our View:Traber was recalled by the team yesterday, and he gave up five runs and nine hits in his 3.2 inning performance. His 3.32 ERA in the minors was ok, but he is just an average relief option at best.

According to the Boston Globe, the Red Sox plan to call up left-hander Billy Traber before Wednesday's contest with the Rays.

Our View:Tuesday's 13-inning loss drained the bullpen and the Sox needed a fresh arm. Traber is 7-5 with a 3.32 ERA in 32 games in Triple-A this season. Josh Reddick was sent down ina corresponding move.

Our View:The 29-year old will be invited to spring training. He struggled in 2008 with the Yankees, as he held a 1.80 WHIP over 16.2 innings of relief.

Our View:Traber has struggled in his multiple stints with the Yanks this year, holding a 7.02 ERA.

Our View:Traber has been brought in to help aid an overworked Yankees' bullpen. He allowed eight earned runs over 12 innings with a 1.58 WHIP this season, and does not merit fantasy attention.
