Add the Mets to the list of teams interested in Padres first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, according to Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman.

Our View:The Mets are likely low on the list of probable A-Gone destinations, however, considering their farm system is rather barren at the moment. Expect Gonzalez trade rumors to be a season-long storyline.

Our View:In other words, $180 million. That's a lot more than the "Torii Hunter money" the Padres are said to want to give him ($90 million, five seasons). This could end a lot of ways, with many of them having A-Gone gone from San Diego.

Apparently Jake Peavy has been lobbying for the White Sox to make a deal for his former teammate Adrian Gonzalez, and has already talked to GM Kenny Williams about it.

Our View:It's hard to imagine that Peavy would have all that much pull, since he's made only three starts in a White Sox uniform, but he does have a long history with Gonzalez. Apparently Williams is already on board though and will be first in line when the San Diego slugger becomes available. He'd be a perfect fit in Chicago with Paul Konerko's tenure likely close to an end and no real power bat to step in at first. The Sox would likely have to part with rising star Gordon Beckham (among others) in any deal though.

The San Diego Padres are not expected to add any big pieces this offseason, and will instead focus on cheaper, more under-the-radar type players, according to MLB.com

Our View:So in other words, everything is normal in San Diego this offsesaon. The club is said to covet infielder/outfielder Jerry Hairston Jr. and outfielder Randy Winn. While neither have a ton of pop, they are both proven hitters with solid all-around games (speed, defense, plate discipline). They won't change the landscape of the National League west, but they could help 2010 from being an embarrassment for the Friars.

Padres general managed Jed Hoyer recently reiterated that the team has no plans to trade star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez this offseason, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:Any speculation you hear on the matter for the rest of the winter is likely just wishful thinking on behalf of the Boston media. Don't expect trade talks for San Diego's franchise first baseman to heat up again until next summer.
