Player Notes
August 10, 2009
The Twins have released second baseman Mark Grudzielanek, according to the Twitter page of Twins' beat writer Joe Christensen. Grudzielanek was 8-for-30 in eight games for Double-A New Britain.

Our View:The 39-year-old was attempting a comeback, but it just wasn't in the cards. It's a long-shot that Grudz will ever play in the majors again, but when he does call it quits he can look back on a very successful career.
July 19, 2009
Mark Grudzielanek has signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Our View:Obviously, there is no guarantee he will appear with the Twins this season, and is not an option in any format.
January 23, 2009
Mark Grudzielanek is on the Phillies' radar, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View:The Phillies are looking for a right-handed bat off the bench, and Grudzielanek may be willing to accept a reserve role. The club also likes Nomar Garciaparra for the job, but it is uncertain if he wants to resume his career. Moises Alou is also under consideration, but may seek more playing time than the club can offer.
December 19, 2008
Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports suggests that the Indians could be interested in pursuing Mark Grudzielanek or Craig Counsell.

Our View:The Indians would need to decide if either of the aforementioned players would be an upgrade over Josh Barfield, Jamie Carroll and Luis Valbuena, who are all competing at second base. The club could move Asdrubal Cabrera to shortstop and Jhonny Peralta to third.
December 8, 2008
The Kansas City Star reports that two NL West teams, the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks, are interested in free agent Mark Grudzielanek.

Our View:Grudzielanek is a solid hitter who could be able to do some things for fantasy owners outside of mixed leagues.
