Miguel Olivo went 3-for-3 with three RBI in today's 5-4 preseason win over San Diego. He hit a single, double and a solo homer off Kevin Correia.

Our View:A strong spring training could hurt the fantasy stock of Chris Iannetta, as Olivo would certainly cut into the young catcher's playing time even if Iannetta holds onto the starting role. Olivo could also remain a viable source for homers, after hitting 23 with Kansas City in 2009, who play at pitcher-friendly Kauffman Stadium.

Updating an earlier report, Miguel Olivo's one-year deal with the Rockies is worth $2.5MM, according to the Associated Press. It includes an option for 2011.

Our View:Olivo is expected to share starts with Chris Iannetta. The 31-year-old vet will provide experience and leadership at catcher, and launched a career-high 23 homers with the Royals in 2009.

Miguel Olivo has agreed to a one-year deal with the Rockies, according to team writer Thomas Harding's twitter page. The deal includes an option for 2011.

Our View:The team moved away from negotiations with Yorvit Torrealba. Olivo will compete with Chris Iannetta for the starting gig at catcher, and could benefit from playing at launching pad Coors Field. He crushed 23 homers with Kansas City in 2009.

The Rockies are reportedly trying to work out a deal with catcher Miguel Olivo, according to FOX Sports.

Our View:Olivo was on Colorado's radar since the club had trouble negotiating with Yorvit Torrealba. Chris Iannetta would likely be their No. 1 catcher, but Olivo could generate power as a backup while playing his home games at Coors Field.
December 1, 2009
The Royals declined to offer Miguel Olivo salary arbitration, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:This was to be expected, as Kansas City paid a $100,000 buyout in November to void a $3.3MM option on the veteran catcher for next season. Offering Olivo arbitration would have pushed his 2010 salary even higher. He wants a multi-year deal, so he likely played his last game with the Royals.
