Ray Durham has turned down a minor league offer from the Nationals, according to ESPN. The deal was believed to be worth $850,000 plus incentives.

Our View:Durham would require a better deal, and is still considering hanging up his cleats. He also does not want to serve as a utility infielder.

ESPN.com reports the second baseman Ray Durham is contemplating retirement. "I'm ready to play, but if that doesn't come, I'm happy with retirement," said Durham, who has received little interest in the free-agent market. "I play the game because I love it. Sometimes it's not all about money. You want to be treated fairly, too."

Our View:Durham has told his agent he won't beg for a job. He knows he won't come close to approaching his 2008 salary of $7.5 million, but he isn't willing to accept a minor-league deal or play under a label of utility infielder that would pay him $800,000 next season.

Ray Durham is still bothered by his sore hamstring, and if he can't play by Tuesday night he will likely be out of the lineup until next weekend as the Pirates will throw left-handers on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Our View:Weeks has hit much better against southpaws this year with a .259/.392/.430 line in those situations, so it might make sense for him to over Durham even when he is healthy as Durham's production has been much worse (.224/.359/.329) against lefties.

Brewers second baseman Ray Durham will not play on Sunday as he continues to suffer from a strained right hamstring, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:Durham left the team's game on Friday with the malady, and sat out Saturday's game as well. Rickie Weeks made his way back into the lineup and went 3-for-3 with a triple and home run.
September 19, 2008
The AP reports that Ray Durham left Friday’s game against the Cincinnati Reds in the fourth inning with a right hamstring strain. He had been caught stealing earlier in the evening.

Our View:Durham had been the starter at second base ever since interim manager Dave Sveum took over but do not be surprised if this injury keeps him out the rest of this series and perhaps longer.
