Justin Duchscherer (back) plans to pitch in a Cactus League game on Monday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser.

Our View:Keep in mind that there are still four days between now and then, and knowing Duchscherer, a setback is clearly not out of the realm of possibility. It remains up in the air whether or not he'll be able to pitch in Oakland's initial starting rotation this season.

Justin Duchscherer will throw a simulated game on Wednesday instead of Tuesday, according to Susan Slusser's (San Francisco Chronicle) twitter page.

Our View:Duchscherer did not suffer another setback with his ailing back, and was pushed back a day strictly due to scheduling. The former All-Star remains an injury-risk flier for 2010.

Justin Duchscherer (back) threw two successful 15-pitch sessions to hitters this morning, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser.

Our View:The next step for Duchscherer is a simulated game on Tuesday. He continues to progress and could be in line to be in Oakland's initial starting rotation if he doesn't suffer any setbacks.

Justin Duchscherer (back) has a successful 32-pitch session yesterday and is scheduled to to hitters on Friday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Duchscherer could be in line to appear in a spring training game sometime next week if he continues to progress without any setbacks. It's still unclear whether or not he'll be ready by Opening Day, and he's probably not worth anything more than a late-round flier at this point.

Skipper Bob Geren noted that Justin Duchscherer may be ready to throw off a mound Tuesday, according to Jane Lee on MLBblogs.com.

Our View:Duchscherer is recovering from a back ailment, and Geren is not optimistic that he will be ready to go by opening day. He has a poor track record with durability, and remains an injury-risk flier for 2010.
