Player Notes
March 10, 2010
Mark Teixeira hit his first home run of the spring against Detroit on Wednesday.

Our View:Teixeira started off slow last season, his first with the Yankees, but eventually found his groove and finished with his usual gaudy numbers. Don't expect as much of an adjustment period this time around, as he should come out swinging hard.
November 3, 2009
Mark Teixeira is batting an abysmal .105 (2-for-19) through the first five games of the World Series.

Our View:For the entire playoffs, he's hitting just .172. He has twice as many strikeouts, 16, as RBI, seven. Apparently, $180 million doesn't buy nearly as many clutch hits as it used to. The Yanks have come to within one game of their 27th championship despite his invisible bat, but if the Phillies come back to win the series, it will be hard not to label Tex's woes as one of the main culprits.

Mark Teixeira went 1-for-3 with a solo homer off Pedro Martinez in tonight's 3-1 win over the Phillies in Game 2 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium.

Our View:Teixeira helped New York even the series at 1-1, and is putting his unimpressive ALCS behind him, when he only hit .222 over 27 at-bats (eight strikeouts) against the Angels.
October 22, 2009
Mark Teixeira finally broke out at the dish on Thursday, but it came in a losing effort as the Yankees fell to the Angels 7-6 in Game 5. Teixeira went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and three RBI in the game.

Our View:Tex got the Yanks back in the game with his three-run double in the seventh, but his team could not finish off LA tonight. If he can stay hot, Big Tex and the Yanks stand a good chance of winning this series.
October 9, 2009
Mark Teixeira hit a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Yankees a 4-3 win over the Twins. They now hold a 2-0 lead in the ALDS as the series shifts to Minnesota.

Our View:Tex went 2-for-5 in the game and his other hit was a leadoff single in front of A-Rod's game-tying, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth off Twins closer Joe Nathan. The big first baseman also had several strong defensive plays to keep the Yanks in the game.
