The Rays are believed to be a potential landing spot for outfielder Garret Anderson, according to the Hot Stove Blog on MLB.com.

Our View:The Rays would use him in the outfield as well as at DH, and would provide the "big bat" that the club covets for the middle of their order. He is 632 hits away from 3,000 for his career.

Former Angels outfielder Garret Anderson is someone that the Oakland A's have been looking at trying to sign, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Anderson is not expected to return to the Angels this season. He hit .293 with 15 home runs and 84 RBI last season.
December 24, 2008
GM Tony Reagins stated that Garret Anderson is not likely to return to the Angels, according to the LA Times.

Our View:The Angels feel they are in good shape in their outfield with Vladimir Guerrero, Torii Hunter, Gary Matthews Jr., Reggie Willits and Juan Rivera.
December 9, 2008
The Orange County Register reports that Rays manager Joe Maddon (a long-time Angel coach and minor-league instructor) said the defending A.L. champion’s main need this off-season is outfielder-DH types and that Garrett Anderson is on their radar. “Actually, I thought over the last two seasons, I thought GA’s game got even stronger," Maddon said on Monday. "I thought offensively speaking, I thought he was swinging the bat great."

Our View:The Rays did not get much production from that spot in their lineup a season agao and Anderson would be an upgrade. He managed 557 at-bats, a .293 average, and 84 RBI last season. He is far better equipped to DH rather than have to start regularly in the outfield.
November 26, 2008
Agent Scott Boras commented on free agent outfielder Garret Anderson, according to the LA Times. Boras noted that Anderson wants to play every day and could handle the outfield regularly if he lands with a National League club.

Our View:Anderson was a bit surprised and disappointed that the Angels didn't pick up his $11 million option for 2009, but is still leaving open the possibility of re-signing with the club.
