Aaron Harang has undergone an emergency appendectomy and will miss the remainder of the 2009 season, according to AOL Fanhouse's Ed Price.

Our View:Quite a pity, since Harang had really gotten going in his last few starts after a tough season. In his past three outings, he had allowed just five runs in 21 innings. The move also further decimates a Reds rotation missing Edinson Volquez and Johnny Cueto. No word yet on who will take his spot in the Reds' starting five.
August 20, 2009
Aaron Harang once again failed to reap the rewards of a strong start. The big right-hander held the Giants to just one run on six hits and two walks over seven innings, but did not factor in the decision as the Reds won 2-1 on a walk-off homer in the tenth.

Our View:Harang has now gone at least seven innings in his last five starts and has allowed two runs or less in each of his last three, yet he has just one win since May 25th. Talk about tough luck.
August 14, 2009
Aaron Harang pitched seven innings of two-run ball on Friday night, but still took his major league leading 14th loss, as the Reds fell to the Nats 2-0 at home.

Our View:The losses are more indicative of the Reds' woeful offense than Harang, however, as the tall righty still has a respectable 4.35 ERA and nearly 4-to-1 strikeouts to walks ratio.
August 10, 2009
Aaron Harang has cleared trade waivers with the Reds, according to FOX Sports.

Our View:Harang is 6-13 with a 4.43 ERA, and is slated to earn $12.5MM next season. He went through waivers unclaimed, but could get a look by teams later in the season looking for pitching help for the playoffs, if the Reds absorb some of his salary.
August 9, 2009
Aaron Harang allowed two earned runs on seven hits over seven innings in Sunday's 5-2 win at San Francisco. He had two walks and fired seven strikeouts.

Our View:Harang claimed his sixth win of the season, and ended a 13-game skid without one. He fared well today, but will remain an unstable fantasy option.
