Hank Blalock has agreed to a minor league deal with the Rays worth $925,000, according to Jon Heyman's (Sports Illustrated) twitter page. He could pocket an extra $400,000 in incentives.

Our View:Blalock could potentially serve in a DH platoon with Pat Burrell. He crushed 25 homers with Texas last season, and will be worth a look for AL-only leagues if he makes the opening day roster.
March 7, 2010
According to the St. Petersburg Times, the Rays are very close to signing third baseman Hank Blalock to a minor league deal.

Our View:A deal is expected to be completed as early as Monday, and Blalock could be a power option off the bench and spot starter for the Rays. He hasn't played more than 39 games at third since 2006, so he's more of a first base/DH option now, but still has some pop left. He hit 25 homers last season with the Rangers, but batted just .234 so he won't be on many people's fantasy radar. A best case scenario would see him land the everyday DH spot, but that seems optimistic.
March 6, 2010
The Rays are reportedly in serious talks with Hank Blalock's rep, according to Jon Heyman's (Sports Illustrated) twitter page.

Our View:The Marlins have Blalock on their radar as well. He could etch out a role as Tampa Bay's DH if signed, and could also see time at first base. He launched 25 homers last season, and could remain a viable source for power in 2010.
March 4, 2010
Hank Blalock appears to be deciding between offers from the Rays and Marlins, according to Sports Illustrated's Jon Heyman.

Our View:The Marlins are the team he has been most often linked to this offseason, and they should be considered the slight favorite to land his services.

Hank Blalock remains on Florida's "radar," according to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro.

Our View:The Fish are eyeing him as a lefty bat to come off the bench. No deal appears imminent, though.
