Mark Ellis was robbed of the AL Gold Glove at second base as the award was given to Dustin Pedroia, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Ellis led AL second baseman in fielding percentage (.993), Zone Rating (.868) and was fifth in Range Factor (5.02). Care to guess how the winner, Pedroia, finished? Dustin was second in fielding percentage (.992), second in Zone rating (.854) and eighth in range factor (4.75). It wasn't that he was awful by any means, but the question needs to be asked - did Pedroia win the award because of his defense or his massive offensive output?

As expected, Mark Ellis has agreed to a two-year extension to remain with Oakland, according to the AP. Specific terms were not disclosed, but the contract reportedly guarantees him around $11 million.

Our View:The 31-year-old infielder could have declared for free agency after the World Series, but had arthroscopic shoulder surgery last month and had been concerned that might affect his value on the open market. The team is very pleased to retain his services for at least two more seasons.

Mark Ellis will be staying in Oakland and is set to sign a multi-year extension, according to the SF Chronicle. He said, "I'm very excited. Oakland has been a very good place for me and my family, and it's really a big relief to be back there."

Mark Ellis is concerned that his procedure to repair damaged cartilage in his right shoulder could lessen his value on the free agent market, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:He believes he could be limited to one-year offers from interested teams. If Oakland presents him with a multi-year deal, there is a good chance he could stay with the club.

A's second baseman Mark Ellis underwent successful surgery that repaired damaged cartilage in his right shoulder, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Ellis also had a torn labrum in the shoulder, so getting that repaired should be very beneficial for the free agent-to-be.
