Player Notes
June 28, 2008
Johan Santana struck out eight over six innings but allowed three runs on four hits, enough for the Yankees to defeat the Mets 3-2 on Saturday afternoon. Santana walked four losing a career-worst four straight decisions.

Our View:Santana has pitched well to win the four games he's lost. In the left-handers last five starts he's recorded a 2.53 ERA.
June 23, 2008
Johan Santana allowed five runs (though just one was earned because of a David Wright error) on seven hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings Monday in a loss to the Mariners.

Our View:Santana's line for fantasy owners ended up being very good, but his won-loss record this year (7-6) has been quite disappointing.
June 17, 2008
The Mets, like many of their NL brothers, found interleague play to be none too rewarding this evening, falling 6-1 to the Angels. LHP Johan Santana picked up the loss, going six innings to surrender five runs (four earned) on eight hits, surrendering two walks with five strikeouts.

Our View:Santana now carries a record of 7-5 with an ERA of 3.04, suffering his second loss in three starts (with a no-decision in between).
June 12, 2008
Johan Santana was at his dominating best on Thursday striking out 10 D'backs while holding them scoreless over seven shutout innings. Unfortunately, Billy Wagner blew the save in the ninth before Aaron Heilman blew the game in the 10th.

Our View:This was the first time in 10 starts that Johan had struck out nine or more batters, so it was nice to see him return to the level of dominance he has shown in past seasons. There's nothing you can do when the bullpen blows a game, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating.
June 11, 2008
Johan Santana takes the mound against the Diamondbacks tomorrow night. In three career starts against Arizona, Santana is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA and 0.77 WHIP.

Our View:Santana's shoulder has been "a little stiff" after being hit by a line drive in his last start but history tells us he should fare well against his next opponent.
