The Tigers will have Fernando Rodney throw short bullpen sessions every other day in an effort to get his mechanics in order. "I'm going to have Rodney throwing every other day in the bullpen for about five minutes, see if we can get some rhythm and stuff going," manager Jim Leyland said on MLB.com. "We've got to get him throwing strikes."

Our View:The sessions will go on whether or not the reliever pitched in the game the previous night or may pitch that day. Rodney has allowed five runs in just 1/3 of an inning while walking three since returning from the DL.

Fernando Rodney, making his first appearance of the year, allowed a 3-run home run to John Bowker in the bottom of the eighth inning on Monday night on his way to recording only one out for the Tigers.

Our View:The good news is that Rodney was throwing in the low 90's, the bad news was the results. He will certainly become a valuable member of the bullpen before the end of the year, but he looked rusty with his location tonight.

Fernando Rodney, out due to shoulder tendinitis, has been activated from the DL on Monday, according to the Associated Press. “I don’t know exactly how I’ll use Rodney, whether in a big-game situation," manager Jim Leyland said. "I’d like to get his feet wet for an inning. It was nice to put his name on the card. It’s been a while.”

Our View:Rodney will be joined by bullpen mate Joel Zumaya, hopefully by the end of the week, as the Tigers' pen will finally begin to resemble the unit they thought they would have this off-season. Rodney has suffered multiple setbacks this year, so take a careful approach toward adding him to your roster.

Fernando Rodney is on track to rejoin the Tigers on Monday, the Detroit News reports. He has missed the entire season to date due to right shoulder tendinitis.

Our View:Rodney may work his way back into the back of the bullpen eventually, but it's not going to happen right away. Fantasy owners shouldn't put too much stock in him after he's missed so much time.

Fernando Rodney threw in front of Tigers pitching coach Chuck Hernandez on Tuesday afternoon. The reliever is on his way back from right shoulder tendinitis and is trying to work out any mechanical issues, MLB.com reports. Rodney will make a two-inning outing at Triple-A Toledo on Friday and is likely still a week away from returning to the majors.

Our View:It wasn't too long ago that Rodney was a potential option to replace the sometimes-shaky Todd Jones, but the Tigers have to simply hope Fernando can come back and stay healthy. We don't view him as a closer candidate at this point.
