Alex Cintron, out with a strained hamstring, has been activated from the DL on Friday, according to the Associated Press. Brian Burres was sent to Triple-A to make room on the roster.

Our View:Cintron, who has been out since July 1st, went 6-for-14 in five minor league rehab games. Cintron could be in the mix at shortstop considering the woes of almost every player that the Orioles have tried there.

Alex Cintron, who is nursing a strained left hamstring, will go on a five-game injury rehab assignment, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:The Oriles are hopeful he could return in late July.
July 18, 2008
Alex Cintron, who is battling a strained left hamstring, is said to be five or six days away from returning to the Orioles, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:If he feels good Friday, the club may start some baseball activities with him. The team remains undecided whether he will be sent out on a rehab assignment. They will wait to see how he responds to fielding ground balls and taking batting practice.

The Baltimore Orioles have placed Alex Cintron on the disabled list with a strained left hamstring, according to The Sports Network.

Our View:Cintron has 69 at-bats on the season, and is hitting .275 with a .296 on-base percentage. There is no word on how long Cintron will be out.
June 23, 2008
Alex Cintron is hitting .326 over 43 at-bats, but the Orioles are still believed to be looking for a shortstop, according to the Baltimore Sun. GM Andy MacPhail feels a need to upgrade the position, and said, "We're on an APB right now, trying to find a shortstop as a front office. We're going to continue to evaluate our internal options and we're going to continue to look outside the organization as well to see if we can find something. We're not really satisfied with the productivity we've gotten out of that position to this point."

Our View:The team has used five shortstops this season in an attempt to replace the elite Miguel Tejada. Cintron is faring well, but is a significant downgrade from Tejada.

Manager Dave Trembley commented that Alex Cintron is going to see more action at shortstop, according to the Baltimore Sun. Trembley said, "I want to take a little better look at Cintron. He will see more time. Against left-handed pitching, I think Cintron would play shortstop more often than not."

Our View:Regular shortstop Freddie Bynum is struggling with a .158 average over 15 games in June, and Cintron went 3-for-4 last night against the Astros, and is hitting 6-for-18 (.333) in the month. Cintron is worth a look in AL-only leagues if you really need help or depth in your middle infield.
June 19, 2008
Alex Cintron went 3-for-4 hitting out of the ninth spot in the batting order helping the Orioles extend the Houston Astros' losing streak to eight games with a 7-5 victory Thursday night.

Our View:Cintron had two singles and his first home run of the season. Back from the dead, Cintron was starting at shortstop for Freddie Bynum, and at this point it appears the two will share at-bats from the position. Cintron has much more offensive upside the the light-hitting Bynum and he showed that tonight.

The Orioles called up Alex Cintron on Sunday, the Baltimore Sun confirms. He was batting .288 over 16 games at Triple-A Norfolk.

Our View:Cintron will battle Freddy Bynum for the right to be the everyday shortstop. We'll let you know if the Orioles name a top guy, as AL-only leaguers will want to know.
April 21, 2008
According to Spencer Fordin of MLB.com, the chances of Alex Cintron taking over the everyday job at shortstop are "extremely good" assuming he hits well at Triple-A. Luis Hernandez is currently the starting shortstop, but he has struggled.

Our View:Cintron is only three games into his Triple-A work, but the Orioles may not wait long. Fantasy owners in AL-only leagues will want to be aware of the potential change.

Alex Cintron could be in the mix at SS if Luis Hernandez or Brandon Fahey fail to play up to expectations, according to the Baltimore Sun. Cintron hit .243 over 185 at-bats in 2007.
March 31, 2008

Cintron wore a White Sox jersey last year batting .243 in 68 games. Cintron is a .277 career hitter with 32 home runs and 212 runs batted in his 598 game career. He currently has zero fantasy value and any future for such is dependent on Brian Roberts being traded.

The Baltimore Sun reports that the Orioles are in discussions with free agent Alex Cintron to provide them another option at shortstop. After trading away Miguel Tejada in the offseason, the team was going to open up a competition at the position among Luis Hernandez, Brandon Fahey and Freddie Bynum. Cintron would fit in that mix.
