The Cleveland Indians on Thursday exercised the 2009 contract option for second baseman Jamey Carroll, according to the AP.

Our View:Carroll has virtually no fantasy value. He batted .277 with a home run and 36 RBI in 113 games last season. The 34-year-old has 10 home runs and 148 RBI over his seven major league seasons.

The Cleveland Indians will likely pick up the $2.5 million option on infielder Jamey Carroll, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. "He's a championship utitlity player," said Indians manager Eric Wedge.

Our View:Carroll is one of those guys managers like, but fantasy players have little use for. He hit .277 with one home run and 36 RBI on the season, with seven stolen bases.

AL-only owners should take a long hard look at releasing or replacing Indians' utiltyman Jamey Carroll. With the team dumping salary and going nowhere this season, expect Carroll to collect splinters in favor of recently recalled Asdrubal Cabrera.

Our View:Carroll's lack of power should make him an easy dump for managers looking to improve their roster and pick up at bats in the stretch run.

Jamey Carroll went 1-for-5 with two RBI in Wednesday's tough 6-5 loss to the division rival White Sox. His hit went for a triple, his fourth of the season.

Our View:The Indians' second baseman is hitting .285, and recorded an RBI in four of his last six games. He would be a good guy to consider if you could use some depth to your fantasy infield.

Jamey Carroll continued to put pressure on opposing pitchers on Thursday night and he ended the evening with two hits, two RBI and two runs scored for the Tribe.

Our View:Even with Asdrubal Cabrera lighting it up in the minors, Carroll continues to pound out the hits as he is hitting a robust .360 in 75 June AB. It will be interesting to see how the Indians handle this call as Carroll certainly has given them something to think about.

Jamey Carroll has stepped into the void at second base for the Indians and performed quite well, according to the Cleveland Plains Dealer. Asdrubal Cabrera is currently in the minors, and Josh Barfield on the DL, leading to Carroll's shot at starting. "With a situation like this, you don't know what's going to happen. That's what they have me here for."

Our View:Carroll has pushed his average from .194 t0 .287 over the last month, and he will continue to be a decent play in AL Only leagues even if he lacks any measurable power as he can provide the odd steal and help in the average category. If he does well, he could turn this audition into a full-time gig.

Jamey Carroll went 4-for-4 for the Indians on Thursday to raise his average .028 points. He also scored a run and knocked one in.

Our View:First it was Asdrubal Cabrera and then Josh Barfield who failed to hit at second base, so now Carroll will get his shot. Carroll is hitting .273 thanks to eight hits the past three games, and he could be a nice fill in if you have an injured player, though chances of him sustaining a run of offensive excellence is pretty limited, though he did hit .300 with 84 runs scored as recently as 2006.
