The Tigers and Pirates have discussed a deal involving Brandon Inge over the last couple of days, but it's unclear how close the two sides are to a deal, according to the Detroit Free Press. Inge became expendable once the Tigers acquired Miguel Cabrera from the Marlins. A trade is the only way he'll get playing tim on a consistent basis.

Brandon Inge has requested a deal out of Detroit and the Tigers intend to accomodate him if possible, the AP reports. Inge no longer has a place in the lineup with Detroit acquiring Miguel Cabrera last week.

Brandon Inge left the team Thursday to return to his South Carolina home, where his wife was due to give birth to the couple's second child, the AP reports. It's not clear yet when he'll return to the club. Omar Infante started in his place Thursday, going 1-for-2 with a walk out of the ninth spot in the order.

The Tigers had Brandon Inge back in the lineup Tuesday. He had been out of action the prior five games due to a chip fracture in his left big toe. He was 2-for-4 in his return, including a home run. So long as the digit responds well, he should be good to go now.

Brandon Inge did not play Saturday at Clevland due to the chip fracture in his left big toe, the Detroit News reports. He's hoping to be back in the lineup Tuesday against Texas, but that's not a sure thing at this point. Omar Infante started for Inge Saturday and went 2-for-4 with a couple of RBI.

Brandon Inge took part in batting practice for the second day in a row, but his injured big toe remains painful when he tries to run. “I can put more pressure on it when I’m walking right now… I’m just going to have to play through some pain, probably,” Inge told the team’s official website.

Brandon Inge has a small chip in his left toe, and although the team is calling him day-to-day, he's feels he'll likely miss a few games, the Tigers official site reports. Inge left Tuesday's game early and didn't play Wednesday; X-rays on Wednesday revealed the small chip fracture in the toe. Inge has been told that the injury won't worsen if he plays on it, so as soon as the swelling subsides and the pain becomes manageable, he'll be on the field again, wearing a metal support in his shoe until the toe heals completely.
