Ben Broussard has reportedly been claimed by the Cubs, according to ESPN 1000 Radio. He has been signed to a minor league deal.

Our View:Broussard has experience in the outfield, as he played 10 games in left field in 2007, and he could be tried out in left for the Cubs at some point while Alfonso Soriano is on the shelf.

According to the Star Telegram, Ben Broussard lost is spot in the platoon at first base earlier this week, and now he has lost his spot on the Texas Rangers' roster. The Opening Day first baseman was designated for assignment Thursday after struggling the past four weeks at the plate and in the field.

Our View:The Rangers activated infielder Travis Metcalf from the 15-day disabled list to take Broussard's spot on the 25-man roster.
