Player Notes

Ben Broussard has signed a minor league deal with the White Sox, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View:The 32-year-old vet has the versatility to be used in the infield and outfield, and will provide the Sox with a left-handed bat off the bench if he earns a roster spot in spring training. His fantasy stock looks to be limited though.

Ben Broussard has reportedly been claimed by the Cubs, according to ESPN 1000 Radio. He has been signed to a minor league deal.

Our View:Broussard has experience in the outfield, as he played 10 games in left field in 2007, and he could be tried out in left for the Cubs at some point while Alfonso Soriano is on the shelf.
June 11, 2008
The Yankees have released Ben Broussard just two weeks after signing him. Broussard didn't appear in a game for the Yanks.

Our View:Broussard should find a team willing to sign him, but he might not make it back to the big leagues this year.
May 27, 2008
The New York Yankees signed veteran first baseman Ben Broussard to a minor league contract, according to CBSSports.com.

Our View:The Yankees, currently using a platoon system at first base, signed Broussard on Tuesday and assigned him to Triple-A Scranton.
May 15, 2008
Ben Broussard cleared waivers and should find himself with another team within the next couple of days, according to the Star Telgram.

Our View:Broussard's new club will only have to pay a prorated portion of his salary while the Rangers will have to pick up the vast majority of it for a player that hit .159 with three home runs for them this year.
