November 6, 2008 Miguel Cabrera has been named the Tigers Player of the Year, according to the Tigers Official Website. Our View:Besides becoming the Tigers first home run champ in 17 years with 37, Cabrera also knocked in 127 runs while batting .292 and tying Josh Hamilton for the AL lead with 331 total bases. He was clearly the best hitter on the Tigers and fully deserved the honor. |

September 18, 2008 Miguel Cabrera is closing in on the AL home run title. The Tigers first baseman has hit 34 home runs which is only one behind Alex Rodriguez and two behind the leader, Carlos Quentin. With Quentin out for the rest of the regular season, Cabrera only has to hit more than Rodriguez and he will become the first Tiger to win the home run title since Cecil Fielder did it in 1990, according to MLive.com. Our View:Cabrera has hit 18 of his 34 homers in the second half of the season. After a slow start Cabrera has lived up to the high expectations for both the Tigers and fantasy owners. |
