ESPN.com is reporting that Tigers' slugger Miguel Cabrera plans to address his family and alcohol issues during this offseason. Tigers' Gm Dave Dombrowski met with Cabrera to address Cabrera's decision to get drunk in between games last week.

Our View:Another interesting piece of this story is that Dombrowski was the one who went and picked Cabrera up from the police station, which couldn't have been comfortable for either man. For anyone who has ever had to call a parent or guardian to pick you up at the police station, you know how Cabrera must have felt making that call. Surprisingly, Dombrowski said it wasn't the first time in his 20 years as GM that he has had to pick up a player from the cops.

Miguel Cabrera fought hard in tonight's 6-5 loss at Minnesota, as he went 2-for-5 with a double and a two-run homer off Scott Baker. The battle went 12 innings.

Our View:Cabrera was unable to lead the Tigers into the playoffs, but should still be satisfied with his effort tonight. He ends the year with a .324 batting average, 34 homers and 103 RBI.

Despite a batch of recent negative revelations, Miguel Cabrera is starting at first base and batting cleanup in the Tigers' one game playoff with the Twins on Tuesday, according to Jason Beck of MLB.com.

Our View:Of course he is. If he were a reserve, say Ramon Santiago, there is no way he would be playing today. But obviously, talent almost always trumps character, and intelligence, when it comes to sports. Seeing as this game starts early at 4 p.m. central time, hopefully he kept the drinking (with Twins players) to a minimum last night.

Updating an earlier report, the Detroit Free Press is now reporting that the cuts present on Miguel Cabrera's face when he showed up at the ballpark on Saturday were the result of a fight with his wife in which both were "aggressors."

Our View:It gets much worse for Tigers fans, however. The fight was supposedly a result of Cabrera's wife being unhappy that Cabrera had arrived home very intoxicated - at 5 a.m. on Saturday morning after he had been out partying all night with friends from the White Sox. His blood alcohol level was recorded at three times the legal limit (though no driving was involved). So as the Tigers were fighting for the lives this weekend, Miggy was out getting drunk with the opposition. Unshockingly, he went 0-for-11 in the Tigers' all important weekend tilt.

The Detroit News is reporting that the bruises and cuts visible on Miguel Cabrera's face on Sunday may have been the result of "family trouble" that necessitated the calling of the police to Cabrera's residence on Saturday night.

Our View:The police were reportedly called by Cabrera's wife. Not a good situation at all, especially considering that the Tigers are playing for all the marbles in Minnesota tomorrow. More news will surely develop out of this, so stay tuned.
