Player Notes
October 2, 2008
The New York Mets are likely going to pick up the $12 million option on first baseman Carlos Delgado's contract, according to the New York Daily News.

Our View:Delgado got off to a horrid start before rebounding to hit .271 with 38 home runs and 115 RBI. He will turn 37 next season, and the likelihood that he continues to put up the same type of power numbers is not very high.
September 24, 2008
Carlos Delgado hit a third-inning grand slam and finished Wednesday 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBI. The performance was not enough for the win as the Mets lost 9-6 in extra innings to the Cubs.

Our View:It was Delgado's 38th home run of the year tieing his best mark since 2003. He had just 24 last season.
September 21, 2008
Carlos Delgado had another huge afternoon for the Mets as he went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI. One of the hits was his 37th home run of the year and he is up to 110 RBI on the year.

Our View:Delgado hit 38 long balls and had 114 RBI in his first season in New York (2006) and his work this year is almost an exact duplication. It's been said before, but he has been mashing since the All-Star break hitting .305-20-58 in 59 games.
September 21, 2008
Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado hit a single in the first inning on Sunday, which was the 2,000th hit of his career, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Delgado started off slowly, leading to many fantasy owners dropping him from their teams. That turned out to be quite a mistake, as he has rebounded to hit 36 home runs and drive in 107 runs.
September 13, 2008
Carlos Delgado went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Braves at Shea Stadium. He hit a single and a double.

Our View:Delgago has registered multiple hits in three of his last four games, with four homers and seven runs scored over the span.
